“Actually a nice lodge.......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

We stayed 2 nights in this lodge, which is situated beautifully in the Ezulwini Valley. If it had not been for the receptionists, I would have graded it higher. All the other personell was nice and friendly - also the young manager. But the 2 ladies at the reception could not care less. I tried to smalltalk about the heavy rain the night before, but they just ignored us. Sad, since the first impression you get from a place is the reception.
The budget-rooms are small, but OK. Breakfast and dinner is good. And the view from the terrasse is stunning

Hi Karin1947, thank you very much for your review and we are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. I do apologize about the small incident with the receptionists, usually the feedback about our reception is very good, I will however look into the matter to ensure that this never happens again at our beautiful little lodge. Hope to see you again in the future. Kind Regards

This was my girlfriend and my first visit to swaziland and really enjoyed the rural and traditional feeling. We stayed at this lodge which was very comfy and our room had a great view of the mountains (although it rained most of our stay). Our dinner in the restaurant was good and we had a nice chat with the manager, who gave us a nice itinerary of things to do.

We stayed at Mantenga Lodge for two nights and had a really good time there. The lodge is ideally located, within a short driving distance to most of the places to visit in Swaziland. The staff was very friendly and helpfull, the lady who cleaned our room was ultra friendly and told us a lot of interesting facts about Swaziland. What I enjoyed most of the hotel was the deck and the view from there, where we were even visited by the monkeys a few times. Memorable first visit to Swaziland.

We stayed at this hotel for one night during a South-Africa road trip. The facilities were very well maintained and safe. The lodge we had was beautiful and very comfortable (balcony, Western standards interior, great lighting, movie channels, internet,...). The staff was very friendly and professional and the restaurant was delicious. A manager came to us during our dinner and asked us about our trip - if we had run into any difficulties, if we needed any advice. This was very thoughtful and much appreciated. If we were to visit Swaziland again we will book Mantenga.

Room Tip: We definitely recommend a separate lodge - very comfortable, cozy and private.

I have now stayed at Mantenga Lodge on 4 different times and truely enjoyed every visit to the lodge. On the third visits I brought my wife with after arranging a something special with the owners. When we arrived there were "SA" champagne on ice, flowers in our room and I booked one of the wooden cabins at the far end from the gate below the wooden deck and close to the pool. The view was spectacular over execution hill and the miths surrounding it. The staff is pleasant and very helpful. The food is very tasty and affordable. I had to do some business during the stay at the lodge and my wife used this oppertunity to visit the nearby attractions such as the silver smith, traditional village and traditional dancing and customs, lays around the pool and really chilled out. Breakfast is full English style and it is a very nice way to start the day having such breakfast on the wooden deck as the day breaks and flip another golden coin. The pub lunch menu provides all the regular favourites, dinner is enjoyed on deck in summer being surrounded by some feary lights or in winter next to a nice log fire. The location is ideal close but not to close to cause a disturbance to the casinos, golf courses, craft markets, nature reserves, Swazi candles, Swazi trails & adventure and shopping centres. A fully equipped clinic is close by. Room service, laundry, secure parking, free Wi-Fi, Airconditioning, limited room amenities but sufficient, telephones in all rooms, restaurant and ladies bar is some of the features. The pool is well maintained and a pleasure in summer. The bird live in the morning is fabulous and the occasionally some vervot monkeys comes and pays a visit. At R585.00 per night for a room, what a bargain. I would seriously promote this lodge to anyone that want to come to Swaziland and experience Swazi hospitality.

Room Tip: Don't feed the monkeys, try and get to stay in the wood cabin with the view to set the right moo...

While on a motorcycle tour (Sama Tours) we spent one night at the Mantenga Lodge. Our room was large and had a wonderful shower. Our window looked out over a pool and woodsy area. Several times we were treated to a "show" put on by the dozens of monkeys on the property. There is a large deck overlooking a pool and views of the mountains. It was the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine watching the sunset. One of our tour mates had a birthday and the wait staff went out of their way to set a beautiful table and sing happy birthday in Swazi. The included breakfast, on the deck, was filling. The hotel is a short distance from the famous candle factory and glass factory. Perfect place to stay while visiting these two tourist destinations.
