“Dreadful. Like a hotel room in Iraq or Afghanistan”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2011

Truly awful. And at $28 per night - talk about rip off!! We stayed here for our last night in Sri Lanka and how we regretted it. It felt like a hotel room in Beirut or some kind of war zone. Filthy room, tiny beds with thin worn mattresses, no hot water, the pillows were at least 10 years old and the curtains were something from the 1970's - and certainly hadn't been washed since then! A generator or air con system on the "balcony" kept us awake until our alarm went off at 4am for our trip to the airport and then when we got downstairs the lady on reception had locked us in despite our telling her we were leaving at the crack of dawn. We had to break out of the hotel to avoid missing our cab!! Never again.

the hotel is a nightmare, rooms are completley dirty, old and smelly pillows.i did not dare to open my luggage,in fear to catch some roaches and other insects.
the restaurant is a desaster,i had to experience the most horrible food on the negombo beach road.the owner was unfriendly with guests and his staff.he was only hanging on his mobile phone, windmill would be better to close down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When we arrived, tho owner was there to welcome us and to cash his money, but that was the only welcome we felt in the 3 days we stayed there.
We hardly could get any proper breakfast that was included in the price, and when we asked for some more toast it was refused by the servants in training, who were very kind, but who were not allowed to make their own decisions (most of the time the owner was not present).
At night we could not sleep because of the terrible noise of a generator in the garden of a restaurant or so, opposite our hotel. It was hell-noise during most of the nighttime.
We were not informed by the owner that that sunday the whole ground floor (bar and restaurant) had been hired for a big wedding with a very loud music-band that made music till into the night, and when we came "home" that evening we were as soon as possible been brought to our rooms, because apparently the wedding-people too were not informed about hostelguests.
The phone at the desk was blocked and could only be used by the servants or us to get enquiries about our lost luggage, when the owner was present.
The rooms and balcony were rather okay, but the a/c was not working and had to be repared in the evening.

  • Liked — the kind servants in training
  • Disliked — the terible noise in the night of a generator
