“Average Hotel, needs some TLC.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

We stayed here for 17 nights on a half board basis. This Hotel is on the beach, has around 20 rooms on 3 levels. Rooms are very basic, old and a bit grotty, however they are kept clean on a daily basis. We stayed in the cheaper room which consisted of double bed, wardrobe, tv, table & chairs, no fridge as is shown on some pics of rooms. Bathroom rather shabby with sink toilet & good working shower. There are a few better standard rooms which if I went again would have one of those. Air con was good & with remote to change temperature and use at your own convienience (not Hotel controlled) There is no Wi-Fi as it suggests on some booking sights. Swimming pool is on ground floor level very close to rooms and dining area, not able to sunbathe by pool. Pool is cleaned every day but could do with retiling as appears grotty. There is a sun terrace seperate to the pool with sunbeds on the 1st floor up. Breakfast consists of eggs, toast & jam. (Sri Lanka coffee is awful)! Food is nice at the Hotel, there is a set menu for each night, soup, choice of 3 meals for main & fruit or ice cream for dessert. There is a seperate menu where they do a beautiful fillet steak! Drinks are more expensive in the Hotel than other bars. Staff are lovely here, they will do anything to make your stay a good one if they can. The Cashier/Manager comes across miserable. The Hotel can be noisy, there is a bar nextdoor that plays loud music til 2am every night. Also there are a lot of Crows around that can be very noisy first thing in a morning! I did expect it to be slightly better for the money, but still had a good time!

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper avoid the rooms which are next to the Serendib Bar next door.

Like a previous reviewer, I had issues checking in as I didn't have paper confirmation of my booking. After much discussion in very broken English they eventually accepted viewing it on my phone. (no WiFi by the way).
Rooms very old, but clean, well airconditioned and good shower, - right where it counts for a budget hotel.
Note that it is a beachfront hotel but the pool is at the street end and there is nowhere to sit. I opted to pay 1000rp and go the Skywing pool area - very nice.
Also there is no lift and nobody to carry your back up two floors!

Average hotel. Bathroom was pretty grimy, but its close location to the airport made it a good option for our first night. There is a pool, but it is closely surrounded by all the other hotel rooms, so not really one you lounge around. Make sure you have your hotel reservation printed, as when we tried to check in, they made us wander around Negombo until we found a place that could print our hotel reservation.

Nothing special, but somewhere to lie your head until the real adventure begins the next day.

Stayed here for 4 nights during an extended birding tour of the indian subcontinent. Rooms were dated and in need of refurbishment. One night it rained and water poured through the ceiling - the solution provided was a bucket and cloth to mop it up ourselves. Food was poor with no vegetarian options - luckily Lords restaurant was just along the road and this was one of the food highpoints of our 5 month trip. This was not at the lower end of hotel prices in the Negombo area and we expected more for our money. Did not really have any dealings with the staff as we only slept there.
