Simple things make this guest house much better than most others of the same price in that area. Lets start with the welcome experience which includes flowers and a king coconut - great, a lovely surprise, and a drink that is refreshing, healthy and has the charm of being something traditionally drunk in Sri Lanka. Next the rooms: over and about the norm (of being clean etc.) they offer the option of a fan and / or AC, they have hot water, face clothes, a mini-fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities. These are all great little extras that make the stay more relaxing and comfortable.

Breakfast was great (it is included in the price) and they used proper (village) bread, with non of the Prima pre-sliced bread that lots of guest houses tend to offer up. The fruit juice was fresh, did not have much added syrup at all, and it was soursop, again another traditional Sri Lankan fruit, which was such a nice surprise to be given something other than the standard 'papaya mixed with plenty of sugary syrup' that even hotels in Sri Lanka tend to give. The fruit platter was generous and the tea / coffee plentiful. The only slightly less than perfect thing to say about the food was the cheese sandwich we ordered, although the bread and salad was perfect, they could do with upgrading the type of cheese they use (I am sure guests wouldn't mind paying a little bit extra), and also it is worth mentioning that they do not always offer evening meals.

We were given a late check-out and the staff easily organized very reasonably priced transport for us back to Colombo. The staff ran the place really well, and were both friendly and efficient. Overall, this was a great little find and if you are going to Bentota then I would definitely recommend staying here, they are doing it right.

We stayed there last weekend, and liked it so much I went back again this weekend. There are many similar places in Bentota, but what really makes this stand out is the very reasonable price for what you get, the really friendly service, the beautiful garden and views, and the amazing delicious breakfast. It's 6pm, and I still haven't had to eat again since breakfast! I have had so many breakfasts at guest houses in Sri Lanka, and this really stands out. They gave us soursop juice, which is a real treat, it's expensive and hard to make so this shows that they don't scrimp.

I like the Lotus room, which looks directly onto the garden - we slept with the doors open so we could look onto the lagoon in the morning, and get the fresh air. We didn't need AC at all.

Wasantha took us to the beach, and although the beach isn't that amazing compared to other beaches in SL, the food at the restaurant is great. My Sri Lankan friend actually said it was the best Sri Lankan food she'd EVER eaten. Wow.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms are quite hot during the day, so I recommend the Lotus room by the garden, then y...

Having read the favourable Tripadvisor reports on Sri Lancashire we decided on a five day stay. We were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived, Wasantha, Nishanti and Chaminda did everything to make us feel welcome and were attentive to our every need. We booked Aurelia and every morning Chaminda served the most wonderful breakfasts on the balcony outside our room, introducing us to the more exotic and unfamiliar fruit on our plate. The guesthouse is about 10 minutes walk from the main road and beach but for trips further afield, such as the beach club, Wasantha was always on hand to take us in his tuk tuk. He also took us to a shop in Aluthgama which sells beautiful pashminas and so many T shirts! All in all , we cannot fault this place - the accommodation was spotless, the food excellent and the service outstanding.

It was like a home away from home. Warm welcome, comfortable room and above all friendly service. B'fast was a hit too. We got helpful advice from the manager as to what activities to do during the day. Would definitely go back again.

We booked four nights at this guest house as it was so highly recommended by Tripadvisor reviewers and we couldn't have been happier. Wasantha, Nishanthi and Chaminda were brilliant hosts - from the first warm welcome to the final farewells from Wasantha at the train station we felt truly cosseted. Our room on the ground floor was large and spotless - as was the en suite which had a very good shower. The dinners were great but the breakfasts were sublime - and so plentiful we couldn't manage all of it - a lovely mix of Sri Lankan and western. We were at the end of a months travelling around the island and it was bliss to just sit in the lovely garden by the beautiful river and relax - with Chaminda bringing pots of tea and biscuits every now and then to keep our strength up! We enjoyed our visit to the Brief garden and the evening lagoon boat trip but, unfortunately, it rained the day we were planning to spend on the beach recommended by Wasantha. Never mind - there's always next year!

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed very good but we did enjoy our ground floor room with patio by the garden.

We came here after reading all the good reviews on tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. The welcome could not have been warmer, the breakfast was the best we have had in Sri Lanka, the view over the river is beautiful and tranquil. The room was very good value price/quality. The people are the best, ever willing to make our stay special.
Please disregard the fake bad review by Zukumu, which was clearly written by a jealous and insincere (and petty) individual. I would recommend everyone to come here and see for yourself. This place is to be recommended big time!

This was the best place we stayed during our trip!
The grounds, the house are beautiful. The decorations are tasteful, the view over the lake stunning and everything is super tidy and clean.
The guest family is super friendly and helpful. You feel very welcome here!
The food is also great! Breakfast is a lot and delicious!
Most definitely have dinner there too. The curry is really good and we also got fresh grilled fish. The dessert was the best wattalapam we had in Sri Lanka.
The rooms are also tidy and clean. Everyday they decorate it with new fresh flowers!
Lovely place!
