“Not too bad!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2011

This hotel was perfectly adequate. As in the other reviews, the property seems to be growing a bit tired, but it has a comfortable bed and all the things you need!

Breakfast had many options and was tasty. The staff were very helpful with booking other activities for us to do.

We had a pleasant room with everything one needed. Breakfast was fine but when we came in late in the day and tired; no place to eat there. One could call a restaurant to come and get you or do as we did, and walk to another nearby hotel to eat. It is close to a golf course. It is in an area that they considered the preferred tourist location. It is about 45 min. from airport and near the coast. The actual city center looked "gritty" to us.

We stayed for 2 nights over a sunny weekend in May. We didn't expect much from the hotel after reading other reviews but we booked it anyway as our friends wanted to stay in the Jungmun area & this was the cheapest option. I have to say I think the negative reviews on this site are a little unjustified! Yes, it is the poor relation in the Jungmun complex, and yes, it is a little dated when compared to its neighbours but surely that is to be expected at such a cheaper rate!

For the price we paid we were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The reception staff were friendly and spoke good English. We stayed in the standard double room - the cheapest option & found it to be a reasonable size with large windows providing a beautiful view. A few of the fixtures and fittings were a little worn but everything was perfectly clean & worked properly. The bathroom was fairly small but clean and functional. 2 sets of bath and hand towels were provided and changed daily. Breakfast was mostly Korean food, but there were sufficient Western options also - eggs, toast, jam, cereal, orange juice etc.

Overall, I would say if you want to stay in the Jungmun area without breaking the bank, the Hana is a decent option. You can always use the facilities (bars, restaurants etc) at it's neighbouring establishments if you so wish.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view!

We stayed here whilst on a two day private tour of Jeju. The island is worth seeing, with great scenery and food. The Hana hotel was a disappointment. The room was shabby and dated, the whole place had an air of fading, without the glory. The staff were pleasant enough (everyone is in Korea!), but not all that helpful. We paid for the trip as a package so cant comment on the room rates, but I wouldn't say this was a budget hotel.

We found the Jungmun resort not at all to our liking - basically its a collection of overpriced corporate hotels, of which the Hana is clearly the oldest and the least well appointed. We checked out the public areas in a number of the others, partly through curiosity, and partly because we couldn't get a drink at the Hana - the bar was always closed/deserted. If I mention the piped muzak which permeates not just the hotel but the entire resort from around 8am to 11pm, I think that says it all.

If you do end up here, or indeed in Jungmun, you can walk to the beach where a waterfall flows out onto the rocks below the Hyatt hotel. Best plan though is to get out of the place for a meal - the eating options in resort are average at best, and expensive. Our guide sent us to a Black Pig restaurant about 5-10 mins away by taxi for a truly local dining experience!

If I was going back I'd try to avoid Jungmun resort altogether, but if was the only option then I would choose a better quality hotel; the Hana dos not offer individual character (nor was it especially low cost) but it lacks the benefits of the glossier (and expect even more expensive) corporates that surround it.

Juju is the best place to rest and enjoyable place to natural sightseeing.
Location might be problem.. it's bit difficult to connect to other place.
That is why we rent a car. everything in there was perfect to me.
I know some place is better than this though considering your budget limit, this might be one of your best option.

We had to choose this hotel inspite of bad reviews on Tripadvisor as it was a last day booking and this was the only one available in our budget. And that was our biggest mistake.
Location - is good, where all the other 4-5 stars are, so you have good crowd around. Also a beautiful beach is 15 mins away. Teddy bear museum is 10 mins away although we didnt go there. No good restaurants around and hotel doesn't serve dinner in their restaurant. It is only for buffet breakfast which is average too.
Rooms - Very small, beds very uncomfortable. We booked a double bed but they gave us twin, we fought but no help.
Bathroom - very average.
Staff - VERY IMPOLITE and RUDE. They make sure they spoil your mood every time you talk to them. Mostly for all things they say No. If they do say yes and do something for you they show that they are obliging you. So PLZ DO NOT STAY HERE. It is worth spending a little more and going to better place.
We were there on Sat, Sunday - wanted to see Jeju - there is only 1 bus tour which is done by Yaha tour, which was full on saturday and on sunday they do not operate. So we had to do everything ourselves. While it turned out to be better idea as we only visited the places we really wanted to and skipped the small or average ones.
The taxi was arranged by hotel guy and he took a big commission from the taxi guy for it- which was sheer cheating, as ultimately we paid a lot to taxi guy.
Internet - nothing in room - you could pay and use it in their internet room.

this hotel is cheaper than the other ones close by but that doesn't mean it was worth the amount we paid for. the room was ok but they overcharged us too much. the room was ok but the bathroom was a little run down and needed some work. the shower was kinda old and the soap dish still had leftover soap smudged all over probably from the previous guests.
the beds were uncomfortable and you can feel the springs. they should replace their outdated TVS and renovate the bathroom. they should charge less for the hotel rooms.
