“Layover in Luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2010

I had an unexpected layover in Seoul through a missed connection with Korean Airlines. The airlines put me up in this hotel for free along with free dinner, breakfast and lunch vouchers. The hotel is not just a standard airport hotel. I've been in a few and this was much better quality. Yes it's out of the way, but most airport hotels are just that, close to the airport. The room itself was spacious enough for me, but could be a little tight for two people. The bed was nice and comfortable and the room was very clean. The staff at the hotel were very attentive, in fact there are staff standing in the lobby waiting to assist you so you don't even have to go to the front desk. The best part were the free meal vouchers. I was thinking it would be plain meals because they were free, but they every meal was very good. The dinner was a buffet with really good food and even a cheese platter for dessert. The breakfast was also a nice buffet spread. I ordered a very good lunch from a set menu and couldn't have been happier. Overall the stay was more than I could want for a layover!

This is just a generic airport hotel that does not do justice to its august brand. The rooms are sterile and devoid of personality and not welcoming. The complete absence of nice touches contributes heavily to this impression. This is all the worse because you will have a feeling of isolation. My guess is that you can get the same or better at a nearby hotel for half the price.

One day's lay over en route home. This hotel is a 5 to 8 mins shuttle bus ride from Incheon Airport and downtown I understand is 60kms and little over an hour away. So if you are a on long haul and have been spoilt by 4/5 star hotels, you may not have much ground to complain except there does not seem to be much 'soul' (read entertainment/culture/friendliness of staff) in this hotel (unless you consider the in house casino (as heaven sent). Cannot make comparisons with the Grand Hyatts elsewhere esp Bangkok, HK, Jakarta, Bali or the Park Hyatt in Tokyo.as this is apples with pears though they have the same Hyatt label.

Back to the room, clean, sparkling wc/tub with all the toiletries as you would expect from a Hyatt. As for the choice of food, this is a business class hotel so do not expect cheap eats unless you got complimentary meals which i understand is given to layover guests booked on Korea Airlines or air crews transitting The extend of food choice is limited in their cafe as with the buffet range but there is a korean restaurant besides the western type restaurants.

As for excursions/day trips, the conceirge is efficient and can arrrange day trips to Seoul and those with less time nearer places of attraction for 5 hours around Incheon. Fair reasonable prices.

I can recommend this as a excellent layover to catch up with some quality sleep but at a price (there are transit hotels within the airport by the way or towns nearby the airport where you get a whiff of the local culture) . As for cheap eats forget it you are better with fast food in Incheon International Airport which is now rated among the top 3 airports in Asia. You could feel marooned if you are in need of other than sleep and rest before the next big flight.

4 star indeed but go down town if you need soul (pardon the pun, Seoul)

If the price is within your means then this is THE business hotel in Incheon. Free, frequent, shuttle to/from the airport. Korean Air check-in counter inside the hotel (open at 6:30). Great excercise room. Room service: good choices, arrives fast and hot. Internet: lightning fast, including in upload mode (I uploaded a 70MB file via FTP in less than 3 minutes) and contrary to other hotels, no limitations (ie. yes you can sync all your podcasts here). Bar: great selection of single malts, not just the "usual" ones found in every hotel (including a good selection of Japanese single malts). Whatever the time of day or night, there never seems to be a queue; you never have to wait in line for anything. In summary, not cheap (though not excessive either) but worth every single penny.

I highly recommend the Hyatt Incheon. I’ve tried many choices for overnight connections at Incheon and the Hyatt is the best by far.

Location
5 minutes ride from Incheon. Convenience complimentary shuttle service runs every 20 minutes. Shuttle service friendly, convenient and reliable.

Room
The standard room is of good size and what you can expect from Hyatt Regency. Bathrobes, sleepers, good toiletries and complimentary water bottles. Very clean with white blanket on top of the comfortable bed. It has a desk but internet service is an extra $20 a day. TV has good channel selection but it is old.

Restaurant
The dinner is excellent with plenty of choices: Grill, Italian, Sushi and of course Korean. I tried the veal and the sea bass and both were delicious. The restaurant is modern with open kitchens.
I was disappointed with the buffet breakfast. For the price(US$ 25) I would have expected better selection and quality.

Service
The service is very attentive Korean hospitality and you do feel as a valued guest.

Our trip from Toronto to Kunming had a 15 hour layover in Incheon. Korean Air provided us with accomodation at the Hyatt Regency, which is certainly a few steps above the usual hotel that airlines provide.
The service here was amazingly good, the room was clean, comfortable and modern, and we were even provided with mean vouchers for the restaurant where we enjoyed a good lunch.

Fully lives up to the standards of Hyatts in Asia/Pacific, which are a step better than Hyatts in the US, which are still pretty good. Luxurious and comfortable. Enormous, beautiful, glass-enclosed pool. Beautiful restaurant serves wide variety of excellent food. Attentive service; you can't walk into the lobby carrying anything without three employees rushing over and insisting on helping you with it. Korean Air check-in desk in lobby. Hotel bus leaves for airport every 20 minutes and arrives 7 minutes later; you can set your watch by it.

Executive floor rooms are the same, except for a high-tech electronic toilet, and a picture window (with venetian blinds) between the shower and bedroom. And of course the lounge serving breakfast, all-day snacks, and evening cocktails.
