This hotel has a great Location right on Haeundae beach and there are amazing views from the lobby, the swimming pool and the beach facing rooms.
On check-in we were upgraded to an executive harbour view room. The harbour view rooms have nice views across to the Gwangli bridge.
The executive rooms are very nice. The seem fairly newly renovated and come with a PC and free Internet access which is a nice touch.
The room rate includes complimentry access to the pool and gym which many hotels in Korea charge for. Note that in the pool you must wear swimming caps.
While expensive the food from room service was very good. The only negative was the very poor choice of English channels on the television.

    • Liked — The location and the room
    • Disliked — The poor selection of TV channels, the cost.

Stay here 5 or 6 times a year on business in Busan. Not as luxurious as its sister property in Seoul, this hotel still has its charm. Foremost among these is location. Right along the cresent beach, the sound of waves can lull you to sleep (if you wish) and the views with breakfast are a treat. Follow breakfast with a walk along the beach.

“some great things but some disappointing ones”

The Westin Chosun Busan

We spent three nights at the Westin Chosun beach in an executive king room during our trip to Japan and South Korea. In fairness, we experienced a few hotels which were so outstanding that I might have judged this one a bit severely.

Let us start with the disappointing news. (1) The hotel is quite expensive on the whole, both in terms of the price of accommodation and of the food, drink, and services offered (I have never had such an expensive espresso at about £7, and the florist makes really beautiful bouquets, but prices would match those of posh London florists). (2) The executive club is rather disappointing in terms of food, drink, and decoration: breakfast was rather sad, evening canapes ranged from average to rather poor, the drinks offered were not always the best. etc. (3) More than anything else, the so-called 'heavenly bed' cheekily (and not very cautiously?) described as 'the best bed in the world' proved everything but heavenly, and does not stand a chance against, say its Sofitel 'My Bed' (probably my favourite out of the chains), or the Meridien, Shangri La, Hilton, and Hyatt competitors.

On the plus side, (1) location is great, very pleasant, (2) the views are lovely on both sides, and (3) the staff proved extremely kind and helpful as my partner fell badly ill and we needed to find a doctor (although it proved impossible to have anyone to come over and she had to go to a clinique). Some spoke very good English, but a few others were significantly harder to communicate with (a problem when you need a doctor at 2am and the person in charge does not understand) but we managed at the end.

So altogether, a pleasant hotel, largely because of the very nice staff, great views and nice location, as well as a great sauna, but not as 'amazing' as what I was perhaps expecting.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — the friendliness of the staff
    • Disliked — the horrid bed
    • Tips/Secrets: — enjoy the typically Korean sauna/hot baths, and go for a walk around the hotel

“Great view, spotless and comfortable room”

The Westin Chosun Busan

My wife and I stayed 2 nights with our 1 and 3 year old. The staff was very nice on check-in and called after we got to our room to ensure everything was OK. We got a "family room" which had one Queen and one single bed, and we put a crib in between the beds. It was a good size room with a nice desk, minibar, closets and a few drawers. We paid an extra $USD 25 for an oceanview room and it was worth it. You could see all the way down Haeundae beach. Beach was just out the back door. Sand was light brown, and not as fine as most Florida beaches, but was still lots of fun for the kids. Older kids hunt for crabs on the rocks at the end of the beach. We went in June, and the highs were in the low 70s(F) with fog most of the day. Water was a little chilly - not many ventured into the water, but the beach was not too crowded. The hotel has a fun Irish sports bar and a couple of nice lounges with great views, plus two nice restaurants we didn't visit. There is a big lap pool and a small kiddie pool, both indoors, with a sun deck on top. The hotel also backs up to a forest park. About a 10 minute walk around the park brings you to the APEC summit house, which is a popular place for middle-older aged tourists. The park is newly renovated and spotless and offers great views of Haeundae beach and the new suspension bridge. A 10 minute walk the other direction along the beach brings you to the Aquarium ($14 for adults and very well done), the TI, and a building with a TGI Fridays, Bennigans, and Outback Steakhouse, and a McDonald's across the street. Must be America-town. A block over is the Happy Thai restaurant, which was excellent and kid-friendly.
