i stayed at this property with my girlfriend on a last minute trip to drive her little sister back to college, literally called the hotel as we were preparing to leave, got what seemed to be a good price, booked it & hopped in the car. having lived in the albany area a few years back, i knew of the fairfield & have a friend who used to work there so i assumed it would be find, especially with the marriott tag on it. big mistake. the only saving grace of this hotel was that we arrived at about 3am & promptly went to bed. the room was sparse to say the very least, shabby accomodations and an even thinner mattress. the few hours of sleep i got here were very uncomfortable thanks to sleeping on what felt like a cardboard box. the bathroom was nothing fabulous either, and the toilet looked like it was ready to rip out of the wall at any minute. check out was also an interesting procedure - not because we ran into a problem, but because as we were leaving the room the fire alarms went off! this of course meant that the elevators were disabled & so we had to haul our stuff down the back stairway with the alarms blaring in our ears. upon getting to the front desk we were greeted with a snotty young girl who seemed annoyed that we wanted to check out, just took the room keys & told us she'd take care of it, no receipt or anything. in trips to albany since then ive stayed at other hotels in this cluster of them on washington ave & was far more satisfied. i dont know if these shabby fixtures are just at this hotel or reflective of all fairfields, but i would definitely never stay there again.
