A number of years ago when I was a student at Siena College, the Desmond was the premiere hotel for parents' weekend and graduation. Now, it's a mere shadow of itself. The rooms are dingy and in desperate need of updating. But more horrifying is the utter lack of housekeeping. Our room had BLOOD on the back of the bathroom door. Additionally, we had to have our bed sheets changed TWICE because they weren't clean. I'm not talking just old stains that don't come out. Instead, it was gross crusty stuff not removed. I would strongly advice against staying here. It's now far too overpriced for what you are getting. Shame on management for letting this former gem get this way

We attended our neices wedding and decided to stay overnight to avoid making the 3 hour drive home to Monmouth County, NJ. The hotel was clean, the employees very helpful and the amenities were great, ie the pool and excercise room. Our room had two doors. One leading tp the interior coridoor and the other to the court yard. The food at the reception was Ok. Although, it is difficult to prepare immpeccable food for over 150 guests. The breakfast and Simpsons was very good and the prices were reasonable. The indoor courtyard of the building is what we enjoyed the most. I would reccomend staying at this property

I've stayed here a number of times and I always feel the same way: it's a dated place and the beds aren't great, but there's something about it that keeps me coming back. I mean, it's almost kind of eerie to stay in a place modeled after a colonial village square, but the staff is really nice (except for this one crotchety bartender who let me and my client know that it's their policy not to serve shots, EVER). I kinda feel like I SHOULD stay here because it's so interesting, even though I might be more comfortable down the street at the Marriott.

I stayed at the Desmond twice in June, passing throught Albany to New York and two weeks later on the way home on a road trip. We found the staff to be very friendly and this was one reason why we decided to stay there again.

The rooms are comfortable and quiet. We have tried both the courtyard facing and outside facing rooms and they are both good. Although the room that we got near the back of the hotel seems to be bigger than the ones near the front. The bed was comfortable and the room service was quick, resonably priced and good. No additional fees other than 18% tip included on the room service bill.

Controlling the A/C in the room is not by temperature, but by a sliding indicator between cool and warm, so you'll have to play with it until you are comfortable. Also, the shower has good pressure, but the water temperature does not stay consistent, sometimes too cold and then too hot.

Overall, a good place to stay.

Well, my family & I stayed here just to sleep on our way to Lake Placid two years ago. It was alright at night cause we were tired and ready to go. The people were averagely pleasurable to talk to and my little brothers loved the inside "courtyard" that looks like a real outdoor starry sky. The room was average & the beds were not so great. I thought the room needed we got was dated-and i guess i cant complain about our view, being the hotel is on a highway. I wouldnt rush back, but a good enough pit-stop for weery, tired travelers!
