I stayed here when I attended a 4 day training at SUNY Albany(right across the street). We've stayed at other Hilton Garden Inns before and this was no different. Clean rooms and friendly staff. You'll need a car if you want to get around town or go to one of the many restaurants they have in the area. Parking is free which is the norm for the area hotels. Apart from SUNY Albany(North Side), a Dunkin Donuts, not much else is in walking distance. The CDTA (forgot which route number) has a bus stop close by so that's one option.
I got the room with 2 double beds since it was the only one available at the government rate. Loads of channels on the tv, a desk to work on, free wifi and a clean bathroom was what I expected and was there. There is also a restaurant in the lobby that served all three meals. I would definitely stay here again but only if I had my car to get around.
