When you think of the thousands of destroyer escorts built during WW2, this is the only one that is still afloat.
Our guide was very knowledgeable which meant he probably spent more time explaining each part of the ship than was necessary; this meant the tour went a little longer than we expected.
Notwithstanding that it was really interesting seeing a well-preserved WW2 ship, much of which still actually functions and moves; for example the guns that swivel and tilt.
However this tour is not recommended for anyone who is claustrophobic because of the many confined spaces, nor anyone who has difficulty climbing almost vertical, in some cases, stairs.
Our guide was also able to relate some stories from his father who had actually sailed on a destroyer escort.
