Description: Nicole's restaurant was established in 1986 and has been called "The Best Little Restaurant in Albany" by the Times Union. Together, husband and wife team, Margaret Carciobolo and James Gavin, strive to keep Nicole's one of Albany's finest restaurants. Nicole's offers a diversified menu of Southern and Northern Italian cuisine with many continental influences. Our team of chefs work daily to create new and exciting dishes. In addition to Nicole's romantic dining room with a 1930's tin ceiling and metropolitan feel, Nicole's also offers an outdoor deck with floral gardens and a private banquet room seating up to forty guests.

“Too pricy for mediocre food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

Very disappointed in the quality and quantity of the food. We have loved this place for many years. Haven't been there in several. Filet Mignon was overcooked, small, tough and tasted like it was either frozen or just old. For $30+ one would expect a starch and and vegetable, but was only served the filet, no sauce, and potatoes, which were pretty good. Needless to say, I'm not racing back there, and that experience will probably end it for me. Underwhelmed

“You HAVE to go here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014

We have been going to Nicole's for many years because the food is always outstanding, reasonably priced, and great service. Even when we've gone on New Year's Eve, when one might expect a restaurant not to be up to par, Nicole's never disappointed us. We've always been very happy customers and there was never a reason for us to meet the owners because we never had any complaints. Tonight we went for our Valentine's Day celebration. There was a big snowstorm yesterday, so we postponed until today (Feb 15th). We parked on Delaware Ave. across the street from the restaurant. During dessert, our waitress came running around to all of the tables to tell people that the police/tow trucks were removing all of the cars from across the street and asked if we might have parked there. Sure enough, our car was gone. We told the waitress and she promptly told the owners, JP and Margaret, who have owned the restaurant for 27 years. They felt so badly for us that not only did they personally drive us to the tow lot, but they gave us 2 boxes of homemade truffles to sweeten our evening. Where in the world can customers get this type of personalized service?? FYI, for those of you from outside of Albany, the Police Dept. said that we "were supposed to know that we needed to check online for parking restrictions in the city." Really????

“A Small Italian Gem.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2014 via mobile

We have loved Nicole's Restaurant for years! When you walk in the door of this small, unimposing restaurant, you find the ambiance is cozy, romantic and perfect for an anniversary, Valentine's Day, or simply a Friday or Saturday night out. We dine there several times a year, and usually celebrate Valentine's Day and/or our anniversary at Nicole's. We have never been disappointed. Their menu is extensive, with adventurous items as well as old Italian favorites. The food is always prepared with high-quality ingredients, and we have never had a meal we didn't love. My husband thinks their saltimbocca is the best he has ever had, anywhere, but I like their veal sorento best, myself. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and attentive. With a reservation we have never had to wait for a table. Albany is very fortunate to have Nicole's Restaurant.

“Baby Shower”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

I felt that we were rushed because there was another party coming in behind us. There were some people that were not served their cake and ice cream on time along with the other guests.

“Great food, service and ambience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013

We have been going to Nicole's on Delaware Ave for years and have always had a good experience. However, earlier this week, we had an OUTSTANDING experience.
Special five cheese and two preserve tasting platter was sublime. The Veal Sorrento (similar to a parmesan type prep with both veal and egglant) was excellent as well as the grilled vegetable combination. The Shrimp Genovese was dotted with perfect garlic chucks with a lovely lemon/wine sauce. The bartender/host Fran made an impeccable gimlet and pours with a generous hand. They even allowed me to taste a wine to see if I would like it before I ordered it. They always have a nice variety of desserts on hand... the peanut butter pie and the flourless chocolate torte (which I had this evening) are rich and creamy. The raspberry sauce served alongside was great also. In addition, the white chocolate cheesecake was nice, subtle taste... we asked for some of the raspberry sauce to be added and it added a new dimension.. made the cheesecake even better. Service by Matt (a newer waiter of Nicole's) was pleasant and knowledgeable. If he didn't know the answer to our questions, he found out. And he always strove to please us. Overall, we enjoyed the friendly, personal service, excellent food, and the atmosphere is intimate and lovely. BTW... in addition to Nicole's being a good place for couples/foursomes, it is good for drinks/appetizers... and we have been numerous times with groups sized between 8 to 18. They handled it all!
