“pleasant and tidy art museum”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

We enjoyed our recent visit. There were two temporary exhibits including a substantial temporary loan of American impressionists from Florence Griswold museum. It was nice seeing those pieces in a spacious an unhurried setting. The salon on the third floor contains more of the museum's permanent collection including Hudson valley school artists. They could probably pare the Egyptian items and focus more on the art of the area.

“Albany's treasure trove”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Visit for the exhibits, lectures and programming, and for the many family and children's activities. The mummies are always a hit with young and old alike. Very nice museum shop and I plan to once again to visit for my holiday shopping. The current Stephanie Rose special exhibit of portraits is very interesting and it was a pleasure also to view the exhibit on loan from the Florence Griswold Museum. Nineteenth century sculpture is beautifully showcased in the original building. "member monday's" are an added bonus.

“Worked Across The Street”

Used to eat lunch there a couple of times a week and enjoyed visiting the exhibits... The Christmas Tree displays each holiday season were always very special.

“A great place with current changing exhibits for an hour in Albany”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

I find that it's worth an hour twice a year to see what's changing and what's interesting. Good Hudson Valley School paintings and furniture, exhibits in a quiet, calm setting.

Right at the end of Lark Street.
