I have driven on Route 20 many times over the last 40 years, as far east as Boston, and as far west as Auburn NY. The ride is much more pleasant than the Thruway, though urban stretches like the one through Albany can be a bit of a drag. There are some very scenic and rural areas, many antique stores, some excellent restaurants, and attractions like Cooperstown are only a short distance away. Yes, it is slower than the Interstate, but vastly more pleasant.
