Based on other reviews and the fact that Konoba appears on the 'worlds best bars' website my girlfriend and I had very high hopes before visiting konoba... Sadly we were massively let down.
Let me start we the positives before I get to the many negatives.
The bar looked great, the location by the Eden Island was lovely and the prices in comparison to elsewhere on the island were pretty reasonable.
Now on to the negatives:
- very poor quality cocktails
- very average food (e.g. Nice cuts of beef over cooked despite request for 'medium rare', lumpy mash potato, reheated chips)
- the much vaunted DJ and great music were none existent. We went on a school night so we didn't expect an amazing DJ set but surely more effort could have been made than just playing the whole of a Katy Perry album!?
- TERRIBLE service (e.g. We had to ask for the wine list after not being given it within the first 20mins of our meal, when we finally got the list we had to order 4 different bottles of wine before we actually got one that was in stock, our waitress knew nothing about the menu or wine list, every question we had she had to go away and would take 5mins to come back with a basic answer, we had to ask for our change after 15mins of waiting - clearly the staff felt they were due a 30% tip based on their 'exemplary' service).
Maybe we caught it on a bad night (mid week, temporary staff and chef, no DJ)... Or maybe Konoba is as comically bad and inept as we experienced. We will be visiting the Seychelles again but there is no chance we'll ever frequent this establishment again which is a real shame because if the food and service were even half as good as the decor and design it would be a great place.
