“Arbel Guest House”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

We stayed 5 nights at Arbel Guest House in a two bedroom apartment that suited our needs of being perfectly located in the Galilee. Our apartment was like a home away from home with a spa (with plenty of hot water), outdoor areas set amongst fruit bearing trees and a pool. Although there were self catering facilities we chose to eat at the restaurant on site. The guesthouse is in a quiet village area on the hills outside of busy Tiberius and yet is close enough to explore the surrounding areas. Opposite the guest house along a path are the ruins of an ancient synagogue overlooking the cliffs of Arbel a truly spectacular site with the Sea of Galilee below. Sara and Yisrael were great hosts, their restaurant served a wonderful breakfast which we had each morning and we ate Yisrael's wonderful dishes each evening. We bought a number of bottles of his special liquers (lemoncello- delicious) and enjoyed handmade chocolates from his cellar. Don't forget to take a look down there when you stay, you won't be disappointed.

We loved to stay in this country located Guesthouse, with lots of flowers, a very delicious breakfast and some lovely cats on top of all that! We stayed only one night and we wished we could have stayed longer! It is just perfectly located, both if you're looking for a relaxing place to spend a weekend, as well as when you're travelling around as we did. Really loved it!

Bye,
Lucia&Erik (Italy&Belgium)

Abel guesthouse we stayed in did not resemble the reviews! The apartment was unwelcoming, dark, "ill equipped. The kitchen area was very shabby and was totally.in adequate for self catering. Decor was shabby and some furniture filthy...the bed linen was tatty..it was an insult....The whole apartment was run down. All the windows were opaque and we couldn't open the door for the cats. Maybe in summer with windows open it wouldn't have felt so shut in.
Abel was very nice environs.

We stayed for 2 nights but wish we could have stayed longer. This place is a lovely guest house, we had a 2 bedroom apartment with a jacuzzi bath. There was a lovely terrace with BBQ facilities which we will make use of when we return. The breakfast was great home cooked and a great start to the day. It also has a small pool to cool off after a long day sightseeing. Overall a great ace near to the Sea oh Galilee about 10 mins drive, you will need a car though as its hard to find. The owners are very welcoming and are always on hand if you need anything. I will defiantly be going back next summer.

We stayed for 4 nights with our kids. The place has lots going for it: the rooms are nice, the beds comfortable, the pool really lovely and the are beautiful. the fridge in the room is big but for a family of 6 a single gas ring is not enough to cook a meal. similarly the kitchen wasnt that well equipped, but the large table ourside our unit was great for eating at.

A bit like one of the recent reviews, we didn't feel particularly welcome here. We always felt that we were interrupting a meal, family time, rest time etc. Maybe it was because for the first few days Sara and Yisroel had their children and grandchildren there, so that was their focus. However, once the family had gone they were more welcoming.

The only negative we had, other than the kitchen, was that the shower in the bath didn't attach to the wall, which made for a pretty poor shower which soaked the floor. All that said, however, we would stay there again.

Israel and Sara Shavit, who run Arbel guest houe are wonderfull persons. Their warm hearts and theis smiles make your stay a very nice experience. I especially advise those back packers who hike on Jesus Trail, to stop in the guest house for a night, (reasonable price for back packers) and enjoy the meeting with nice people.
