“Beautiful Hotel and Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

What a gorgeous hotel. The views from the hotel are amazing and its location is great. We walked to all the restaurants and sites. The boardwalk is a few blocks away and the hotel is on the water. There is no access to the Kinneret from the Hotel, but there are several great beaches nearby. The staff is very professional and helpful. We got a guide and toured the Golan Heights and Tiberias in less than a day. The food is good, but the hotel is not Kosher so be aware of this if you are Kosher. Great breakfast buffet each morning. The pool is very good also. We had our 3 and 6 year old girls with us and they loved it. This is the most beautiful hotel we have stayed at in Israel and we love the North.

Excellent reviews but in my opinion it was just ok. Nice rooms, reasonable breakfast and decent service but over priced! Small things like the free bottle of water in my room wasn't replaced! The bar closed at 11pm even though they were advertising the word cup. That said they have a fantastic selection of whisky.

Scots Hotel is definitely one of the best hotels in Israel. It has an interesting historical heritage and is situated next to the beautiful sea of Galilee. Excellent food, very good service, nice tranquil pool, gardens and places to sit, and very comfortable large rooms.. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We loved the antique rooms. They are large and beautiful.

Definitely a good choice for Tiberias. There isn't a lot of decent selection here. The Scots is definitely at a 4-1/2 star level no doubt. The service was excellent and the rooms were clean and well equipped. Breakfast was excellent as well with a large, fresh selection of food. There is one note of improvement though, the free WiFi has a poor and varied connection and strength. I was in the hallway on the floor trying to get a signal because I couldn't connect in my room (509) not that I wanted to surf the net but simply to check my email. Overall I would stay here again.

Hotel was a hospital . Nice location but poor service and the rooms are not worth the price very small. Mark the bartender was great!!!! Lot of up and down to get to room from front desk. Bathroom towels need to be used for rags!

Scots Hotel is by far the best hotel on the Sea of Galilee. There are different grades of rooms, we stayed in the upgraded but there was not a view of the beautiful Sea of Galilee from our rooms. However, there are numerous places; gardens, porches, pathways, from which to see this remarkable and historically sacred body of water. Our room was large and had all the amenities. the bathroom was very large. The buffet breakfast they offer is great, with lots of choices. (It is not kosher). The bar is open until late. It is nice but pricey. We went to the pool as well; it is nothing to write home about, but if you have children it would be a nice option. This hotel is a great base from which to visit all the sites that are on the Sea; Capernaum, Mount of Beatitudes, Church of the Loaves and Fishes, etc. Tiberius itself is not really interesting and there is no shopping to speak of so get your souvenirs somewhere else. But the Scots is great!

Room Tip: If you can afford an upgrade try to get rooms in the buildings that face the Sea of Galilee. Even i...

went with family last summer - apologize for the tardy review. Well, how do i put this? certainly wasn't what i expected after reading the rave reviews. It is a pretty property though in Tiberias that doesn't really say much. Hotel is owned by the Church of Scottland so as a Jew visiting Israel for the first time in ~ 20 years, was surprised to see all the crosses everywhere as well as staunchly anti Israel tour guides preaching to their groups at the tables next door during breakfast. On the positive side, my kids had a great laugh when my 13 year old nick named the hotel "the ham and cheese hotel" after every single item on the room service menu had pork, ham or bacon on it. I will also add that it is not a great family/kids hotel. The vast majority of guests are adults and it felt like we were walking on eggshells at the pool hotel. This was quite different from all the other hotels on our trip that were thriving with kids.
The hotel to me will forever be remembered as the ham and cheese hotel!
