“Room with a View”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

We stayed at the King Solomon in Tiberias for only one night as part of our tour. The rooms were very basic. There was a good sized seating area and a tiny balcony. The bathroom was spacious but set up strange. From the shower you look right at yourself in the mirror. Our balcony had a beautiful view of the Sea of Galilee where I witnessed a gorgeous sunrise.

This hotel could use a major refresh but it is clean and comfortable enough for a short stay. Breakfast had plenty of hot and cold selections. I mostly appreciated the view from our room.

Really run down and in need of maintenance and updating.
The pool area is lovely, though no drinks available anywhere near the pool or toilets which is inconvenient.
The hotel is way out of town, nothing around but wasn't a problem for us.
Religious hotel so one of the lifts turns into a Shabbat lift on fri evening meaning it stops at every floor going up and down. It was then turned off completely on Saturday leaving one lift for the whole building and a que of ppl wanting to use it. We were on the 11th floor so it's a long walk up.
Wifi only works directly in hotel reception area with limited seating.
Food was ok, not great but not awful either. Overall it was OK but certainly wouldnt look to stay again.
Ps. Remember room doors don't lock automatically, you need to push the button in before going out.

I stayed here with my wife for one night. The staff was pleasant and effecient. The standard room was a bit small but comfortable and up to date. The food was excellent: both dinner and breakfast. The price was a bargain ($100) and worth every penny and than some. The location is a bit out of things but we had a car so we didn't mind at all.

The hotel is on the top of the hill, far, far from the Sea of Galilee. It was in really poor condition. The rooms were run down and decrepit....lamps falling to bits, closets collapsing, rusted out bath tubs, concave beds, tiny dingy towels and filthy windows. If going by American standards this would be a 0-1 star hotel only because it has attached bathrooms. We figured it was used for the birthright program as it was full of teens.
We would suggest staying at the Leonardo Plaza Hotel Tiberias. It is right on the Sea and looks a lot more updated.

We had a very comfortable room on the 10th floor, for me,my wife and daughter.
As part of a tour,on a bus, the luggage was delivered to the roadside then taken in after checking. One is issued with stickers for the romm number and if you don'tfeel like juggling bags etc yourself, they are taken up by hotel staff and left at the door. The same procedure happens when checking out. Bags put outside the room door and they are taken downstairs. This also happened when we were in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
The food was excellent such that you were tempted to eat too much from the Buffet style serving.
The view of the Sea of Galilee http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrFeccinVZA from the balcony of the room was on a calm morning. Next day a wind got up and blew sand in from the desert so that the distant hills were partially obscured.
The only minor problem was the intermittent noise from the fans on the condensers of the hotel airconditioning on the roof about 30 feet below our window. However it was not a major problem and we kept the windows open in spite of it. Otherwise, apart from an evening wedding reception on the roof of the next building, there was almost complete silence
The staff were very helpful and on the day I stayed in bed due to a 3 day flu, I was able to have food in my room brought up by my wife with no extra charge. At the next hotel in Tel Aviv there was a room service charge of 10 NIS for a waiter witha tray to accompany me to the room where my wife got the same 3 day flu.
There was free WI FI in the hotel lobby and I had no problems, other than a somewhat slower link, on my Netbook.
The interesting thing for those unfamiliar with the concept is the 'Shabbat Elevator'. This is when the lift goes up and down automatically for Shabbat so no one needs to press any buttons. Trouble is that it does this floor by floor stopping at each and the doors opening and closing, regardless of requirements. As there were only 2 lifts on the 10th floor and one is in a hurry, it can be frustrating.
If you have uncomplicated requirements you would find this hotel a good stop.

Room Tip: We were on the 10th floor facing the Sea of Galilee. Check the link to You Tube.
