We stayed at the Holiday Inn for free with a voucher given to us as a gift. We were shocked to learn what people pay to stay there! The list of good things is short so I'll give that first: 1) The grounds, the lobby, and the rooms are very nice: 2) Beds/linens were very comfy; 3) Good water pressure; 4) The staff at the coffee counter in the lobby and the staff at the gift shop were very nice. The Problems: 1) strong smell of mold/mildew in the lobby; 2) The front desk staff acted like it pained them to smile; 3) Black mold/mildew in the caulking of the bathtub; 4) The so-called private beach is hideous! There is all kinds of old junk around, all rocks and no sand on shore, rocks all the way thru the water, no kiosk for drinks/snacks (it was boarded up), no lifeguard, and it is really small! 5) The spa & pool are about a kilometer up the road and there is no sign stating it is part of Holiday Inn; 6) No nice restaurant - just a big dining room where all meals are buffet style; 7) saw staff rubbing smudges on dishes on their shirts while setting tables! 8) saw staff take uneaten bread off tables and putting it back on the buffet!

  • Liked — pretty grounds, nice room, comfy bed/linens
  • Disliked — Terrible service - especially room service, and the so-called beach is a disgrace

My wife and I stayed here on mileage for a week. We had been edgy as others told us it wasn't so nice, however we were pleasantly surprised to find a nice spacious room, a nice shower (new shower heads...), and an exceptionally large tv by hotel standards. Though it is a couple of minute drive from the main part of town, it is walkable in about 15-20 minutes. The housekeeping were very accommodating, even with the extremely high volume of guests. I didn't use the hotel facilities as we did stuff around in the neighboring communities, however, we would would definitely stay here again.

This was our second stay at the Holiday Inn Tiberias. The food here is fantastic (we had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel for the 3 nights we stayed here). The beds are very comfortable and the shower has great water pressure. The only issues we had was that the room was not very clean. Although, they were clearly in the process of renovating the room we stayed in (i.e. no pictures on the walls, bathroom floor tiles had been removed so only concrete floor was left, since new tiles had not yet been put in etc.). The other issue was that it was very warm when we were there (2/21 - 2/24) and the hotel had turned off their air conditioning! The room was SO stuffy at night I had difficulty sleeping. You can open a window or the door to the deck, but if there's any light on in the room and it's dark outside, the little flies just come SWARMING in. They land on the bedding and get smashed on it - which is unpleasant. I think once they get all the rooms renovated, there will be less dust and dirt - but they really need to keep the A/C on during the winter because it can get warm there (even in the winter).

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Tiberias for 2 nights right before New Year's 2006. The hotel is located 2 km south of the main area of Tiberias and is divided into 3 different building, a main tower and two shorter buildings. The main tower is closest to the road (Route 90) and the other two buildings are behind.

The hotel has a private beach and spa area located across the road on Lake Kinneret (Sea of Gallile) which we did not use because the weather was not warm enough.

The room itself was small and relatively clean. The room was showing some wear, but besides what looked like stains on the couch, the room was very clean. The bathroom is quite small and the step up into the tub was a bit high, but everything worked well and the water pressure was excellent.

Breakfast at the hotel is 54 NIS (approximately $12.80 as of January 2007) and consisted of a buffett of both hot and cold items. We had breakfast at the hotel both days but were only charged for one.

The hotel is not within walking distance of the rest of Tiberias so it is best to stay here with a car.

  • Liked — The price was excellent compared to other hotels in Tiberias.
  • Disliked — The noise from outside your room bleeds in at all hours of the night.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Ask for a room not in the main tower or towards the left (getting off the elevator) to be away from noise from the Disco.

In July of 2006 I stayed at the Holiday Inn with my wife and 3 kids. We had 2 very nice clean rooms that connected. The hotel is located accross the street from the Kineret and the pool for the hotel is also accross the street. If you don't mind walking over the pedestrian bridge to get to the Kinneret then you are fine. We didn't mind at all and we never ended up going to the pool but spent our whole time in the Kinneret. The Hotel is also affiliated with a water park on the other side of the sea. They gave us free passes and it is a twenty minute ride for a day of water fun. The food was really great for breakfast. We ate all of our other weekday meals out and the city is close and there is lots of food and shopping really close by. The staff at the hotel was very nice. There was also nightly and daily entertainment for the kids. On the day that we arrived a war broke out in the North and we thought that we were safe and out of reach from the missles so we stayed in the hotel for the weekend. On Saturday at about 1PM a volley of Kaytushas came in and landed nearby. Everyone ran down to the shelter. My wife and kids were pretty shaken up but the staff helped calm everyone down. There was entertainment for the kids they had lots of food and drinks and it really made staying in the bomb shelter for the day and enjoyable(if I can call it that) experience. At night we checked out and drove south to avoid the missles. The hotel was very accomodating. They did not charge me for the day that we spent in the bomb shelter. I look forward to going back there at a more peacefull time as the area is beautifull and the hotel is really nice.
