“We love Villa Tehila”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

We are Americans, and we’ve been to Villa Tehila three times over the past several years. Each visit was a great experience, and we intend to go back to this wonderful place whenever we are in Israel. Everything about this small hotel is terrific. The décor is eclectic and delightful; the rooms are exceptional (the beds are big and comfortable, the bathrooms are totally modern); the homemade breakfast is delicious; the swimming pool, sauna, and jacuzzi are appealing; and Tehila herself – from whom this hotel gets its name – is absolutely charming. We’ve taken my mother-in-law on one visit, and my daughter and her fiancé on another. All of us, no matter what age, love Villa Tehila.

Villa Tehila is located in an historical building in the most beautiful part of Rosh Pinna, in the old city. The rooms are very clean and beautifully designed. The swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and massages make the place a perfect spot for relaxation. From the rooms there is a beautiful view on the Mount Hermon and the gardens.
The delicious homemade food makes the breakfast authentic and gourmet.
I'm waiting for the next holiday to come back, but this time with children, since there is a charming little zoo with ponies, lamas, birds, peacocks and other animals the kids will love.

Room Tip: Rooms on the nort side have a view on Mount Hermon"

I'm not sure that Villa Tehila would be for everyone, I'll just say that at the outset. However, if you like a B&B type of experience, you should really enjoy staying here. It is especially lovely for kids, with all of the animals (rabbits, parakeets, a pony, goat, etc.) Tehila and her husband are interesting people and clearly take pride in what they've done with the property. We were in the "red room" (no. 7) and while the accommodations were not particularly recent, it was impeccably clean and very spacious. We didn't have a need for the kitchenette, but it's nice to have. Villa Tehila is situated on a beautiful hill, and its entrance is right across from the park in Rosh Pina. The pool is also very nice, heated and clean.

Room Tip: I'm not sure there is a bad room, but rooms on the second floor might have even better views.

“Tuscan” is an overused descriptive in the thriving world of Galilee hostelry, but in Villa Tehila’s case it definitely fits. This 11-room inn on a hill in the charming old village of Rosh Pina offers a truly exceptional experience -- all the modern comforts one can ask for, in intimate, peaceful surroundings of warm timber and roughhewn stone, tastefully decorated rooms, fruit trees, gardens, a petting zoo and heated pool (plus pub, spa, ample parking and a recreation room with wi-fi). It’s all overseen by the kindly, lovably eccentric owners, Tehila and Amichai Israeli, who built the place from the remains of a 19th century farm. Tehila and Amichai live on the site and one or both usually have time for a chat and advice on what to see and do in the area. The latest addition to Villa Tehila, we discovered on our most recent stay, is breakfast -- salads, eggs, cereals and hot and cold drinks. It’s served in an upstairs dining room with stunning views of the neighboring hills, mountains and valleys.

This place is Israel's hidden gem and surprisingly very reasonably priced, as you defiantly get more than your money's worth. It's located in a lovely Galilee village in the picturesque old neighbourhood, where the beautiful stone houses date to the 19th century. Although the village is abundant with B&Bs, restaurants and arts and crafts galleries, it was peacefully tranquil, and the villa is the best we had seen.
The rooms of the Villa surround a main cobblestone courtyard, brimming with antique ornaments and blooming flowers, even in February when we were there. Some rooms have charming little balconies facing the upper village or the valley bellow, while others face the pretty central yard. As our room was on the ground floor right in the courtyard, we were worried that it might be noisy, but sitting on the bench outside our room, the thing we heard most was the chattering of songbirds from the towering orange tree and the gentle trickle of water from the many fountains.
The room itself was a small double, but it was tastefully decorated and wonderfully romantic with loads of period charm. It had the most luxurious bathroom, with a hot tub majestically tucked under a Mediterranean stone arch. We couldn't believe that a 100 years ago it was used to house farm animals!
There was a little kitchen, where we made excellent tea, to which we were kindly advised to add some mint and lemongrass from the garden – a perfect Galilee refreshment. When it became too chilly to sit outside, we moved to the warmth of the fireplace in the beautiful lobby to make dinner plans. As there were a dozen restaurants to choose from, all a short walk away, we were spoilt for choice.
Travelling in winter, we were 'disappointed' to discover the heated outdoor swimming pool, as we never thought to bring the proper attire with us. How happy we were when upon mentioning this, a basket was brought to our room with two dozens swimwear to try on! All had been left behind by previous guests but were washed and clean (we were even welcome to keep ours if we wanted to). Snuggled in fluffy dressing gown supplied by the B&B, we ventured to the pool after dinner, for a romantic moonlight swim in view of the flickering lights of the garden and the valley beyond. Despite the weather outside, it was lovely and warm.
Although the bed wasn't large (a standard double), the room was so cosy that we slept like babies. Breakfast was served on the 'rooftop patio' from which one could see the Hulla Valley and Golan Heights. Breakfast was superb: local cheeses, delicious salads, wonderful thick-crust bread and sweet rolls, warm from the oven. From the delightful 'egg menu', we chose wonderful fried eggs in a pastry blanket and a delicious green omelette. There were also cereals, granolas and cakes, but no fruit. Nevertheless, it was a breakfast fit for a king and it lasted us well into the afternoon.
Smitten by this quirky, charming hotel, we decided to stay for two more nights, making the most of their off-season packages. Also it was a wonderful base to explore northern Israel, as the Sea of Galilee, the Golan Heights and the Galilee hills were all on our doorstep. We would have stayed for another night, but the weekend (which starts on Thursdays) had been booked in advance.
The only problem I can see with the Villa is that you might not do a lot of sightseeing when you're there, because it's too lovely to leave. However, it was a pleasure to return to such a beautiful, tranquil sanctuary after a long day exploring. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Such an enchanting place and such good value for money, especially as they told us that tourist are exempt 15% VAT, information not so openly divulged by other hotels.

Room Tip: We were told that rooms are different. We sampled two and loved both.

My cousin and I stayed at Villa Tehila in March this year. We had wonderful accommodation in rooms which form part of a little apartment at the top of a couple of flights of external stairs, and each room was connected with an adjoining hallway/kitchen area, which had a kettle and lots of different teabags and coffee, as well as a hot plate, fridge, sink for washing up, and plate rack.
Each room was beautifully and comfortably fitted out in a sort of Bedouin style, with lovely bedspreads, pictures, wall hangings and curtains, all co-ordinated in a very pleasing way. We each had our own balcony with tables and chairs, and our own individual ensuite bathrooms, which was a pleasant surprise as we had thought we would be sharing a bathroom. The bath tubs double as a jacuzzi but the jets from this were rather violent and hurtled rather unexpectedly into the air and in my case, nearly into the bedroom as I had forgotten to shut the door!....so neither of us ventured to use them again. We are also both very 'water aware' and preferred to use the showers rather than waste so much water by having a bath! There is central heating in the rooms and additional heat can be obtained from the air conditioning units which double as heaters. We needed this as it was really cold at night time! There was a variety of dishes on offer for breakfast in the communal dining area. Just one slight criticism - the water in the tea urn could have done with changing as the stale tang from it impaired the taste of the tea and coffee. But other than that, the food was good.
There are all sorts of animals and birds in a little 'zoo' on the premises. I am sure that in principal they are all well looked after, but both my cousin and I have an issue with birds in cages, and there did seem to be an awful lot of budgies and some wild green parakeets in a rather restricted space, added to which there were rabbits trying to hop about in a very small space inside at the bottom of these cages which just doesn't seem right....

There are the most beautiful trees and plants all over the courtyard and surrounding the villa which gives the place a great atmosphere.

We found two or three really good restaurants to dine in at night and enjoyed the relative peace and quiet of the whole area, and the wonderful views.

Room Tip: Ours were lovely ...rooms 10 & 11.....
