“Not Impressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

Pros.
-Friendly staff.
-Relativity clean rooms.
-Free Wi-Fi.
-Good Gym.
-Good English channels on the TV
-Large breakfast selection.
-Comfortable bed.

Cons.
-The noise!. The walls in this hotel must be paper thin. Two nights in succession I had to call the front desk at @4:00am because there was what I can only describe a riot going on in the room beside me. I realise people stay in hotels for different reasons, but it’s very annoying when you have to work in the morning.
-The noise!!. The weekends in this hotel are crazy!, Gangs of marauding kids on bicycles and scooters plague the corridors putting an end to any idea you had of having a well-earned lie in on the weekend.
-The bathroom was small and grubby and I had to ration my toilet paper as it wasn’t replaced until the middle of the second week.
-The towels smelt like they hadn’t been dried properly.
-The room occasionally smelt of cigarettes. This may be a problem with the ventilation system rather than people actually smoking in the room.
-The Wi-Fi, although free is very slow.
-Limited menu in the bar. Pizza, Sandwiches or Pasta and variety decreases even further on Sabbath.
-No draught beer (they had the facilities just they had issues with the equipment), no bottled beer but Gold star in stock, also no vodka.
-The area is almost devoid of other facilities. There’s a small shop across the road and a couple of small café’s but you’re going to have to take a taxi if you want to eat at a decent restaurant.

If I had the choice of staying here again or elsewhere, I’d be staying elsewhere.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to post your comments regarding your last stay at the Leonardo City Tower Hotel.

I would like to apologize for any inconvenience that has occurred during your stay with us.
However, like you said there are something's that can not be controlled.
Regarding the noise during the weekends, yes the hotels population does shift a little. I would like for you to know that if there are any complaints of noise we take it very seriously. There are many guests in the hotel that are with us for long periods of time so privacy is very important, and of course we send security upstairs immediately to take care of the problem. If need be, guests that are causing problems are moved to a different room or asked to leave the hotel completely.

Regarding the toiletries, Wi-Fi connection and the smell of cigarettes; We have notified all relevant parties and we are doing everything in our power to prevent any discomfort of the sort to our guests.

We treat our guest's comments with great importance, and this review was not taken lightly.
We hope that you will choose to give the Leonardo City Tower Hotel another chance upon your next visit to Israel.

Sincerely,
Yora Vardi

Its an old hotel, near a train station so if there's a train parked outside you can't open the window unless you want to hear the constant drone of the engine. Get a room on the other side of the station side. Location is OK but not fantastic. Staff are nice. Breakfast is as expected but not fantastic. No meat anywhere to be found - you'll have to do with eggs and a standard good-hotel buffet. Coffee is really bad. Rooms leave a lot to be desired - they're old and some things were broken. Showers leaked all over the floor to the point an extra towel was needed just to stand comfortably. Panels in the elevator were vandalized with scratches of people's names and obviously haven't been refurbished in years. Just because a hotel has a pool and a spa does not make it quality. The basics must be right first and as such I would barely rate this hotel 3 stars.

booked a 2 days stay

was greeted nicely although room wasn't ready (duo to 15:00 check-in policy)

entering the room i felled the heat wave welcoming me

after an 30 min' i asked for help

it toke them 45 min' to get the technician to my room just to tell me the AC is at its best

so yes i checked out before i even got packed out

could be nice in the winter but defiantly not recommended in the hot humid Tel-Aviv's summers

Room Tip: in the winter for a good deal it might be OK

Ok i was here on business for a week and it was suitable for its purpose, so perhaps I will be seen as a bit harsh here. This is a massive tower that seem a bit dated but the room itself is nice and clean with good internet access throughout the hotel.

All essentials are provided plus dressing gown which is always a nice touch! With its height you should have a great view but the location means there is nothing more than roads & the railway to see. My first impression from looking out the window reinforced the isolation of this place.

Staff were fine, perhaps not above and beyond like you get elsewhere. Hotel bars should always make effort with the solo travellers and make small talk :). This seems a general thing though throughout my visit and not just for the hotel.

For the breakfast, it all depends on what you want. Lovers of a big fry up will go hungry, for Brits this is more like a light lunch with salad, fish and omelette. I had lunch here once on my first day (was a Saturday so NOTHING is open during the day and half the menu is off), was nothing special but I had little to chose from. Sandwich or a salad really, so the tuna sandwich it was. Not great, very dull in fact.

For location if your here for work in the area then fine, otherwise it’s very limited. Few shops, bars & restaurants, this is predominately the diamond district and numerous other business. In fact there are more car parks than anything else here which shows this is just a place to drive to, work, then go home. The place seems quiet and safe but it is in a red light district. Not anywhere near on the scale of other cities but still something to keep in mind if you’re out and about at night. Not a big loss if you stay in though as there are no local bars to have a few beers or somehwere nice to eat so if your not in the centre the only decent place to hang out is the hotel. Boring eh?

For further exploration it’s a very long walk to anywhere, I done some treks up to an hour and still struggled to find things of interest, and with the heat it’s not an overly comfortable walk. In all fairness the taxi won't cost too much to get you more central and on the beach, under £10 should sort you. For the airport should be under £30 for your taxi.

Likes:
- Pool, a bit old but very warm.
- Super fast and free internet.
- Staff at reception, quite friendly.
- Security: one neighbor had just arrived at 2 am, and decide to talk very loudly on the phone and to his wife. As soon as I called reception, security came and made him stop.
- Breakfast: gargantuan.
- Good spinach pizza at lobby.
- Smooth airco.
This is an old hotel, and they have not renovated it for some time. So room and furniture are dated. But everything works well, and it is good value.
Dislikes (a bit):
- Room doors are not soundproof. This is a bit of problem as hotel guests seem to love giving a loud farewell to each other when they are back to their room at midnight.
- Location is excellent for transportation, but there is nothing to do around.
- Coffee-shop (independent of hotel) next door is a total trap: ILS 50 for a small sandwich!!!
- Restaurant gives good pizzas, but has very limited offering.
- Families mix with business guests, so there are big groups with running children... a bit noisy, but life is not only made of businessmen, right?

Room Tip: Try taking a room away from the lift (because people love shouting at each other "Good night, s...
