“A walk through the past”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

I recommend reading "The Source" before visiting since it will give you a real sense of the history of the site. Things that stick in my memory are how the stones fit together so well without mortar. Of course, the water tunnel is the star of the trip. I don't think I was able to walk all the way to the well but it still is memorable. Of course the other guidebook for anywhere in Israel is the Bible. Definitely a must see. (I went there in 1973)

“Worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Traveled here in August with my 7 and 9 year old children. The water tunnels were definitely the highlight! My kids felt like true explorers. Even at 3:30PM there was an excellent breeze up there. I was surprised the old movie kept my kids' attention, but it wasn't too long. Lots of space to run and climb on the steel "horses" placed in the ancient "stable" area. For those using GPS maps to find this place search for 'Tel Megido.' We came here after a morning in Galilee & lunch in Tiberius and it was the perfect end to our day.

“Armageddon in Person”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Megiddo was destroyed and rebuilt 25 times in 3000 years. And then after the Persians conquered the city, they left it to the sands of time, and it disappeared. Even after it disappeared, two very historic battles were fought on the plains surrounding the tel, Soulemain defeated the Crusaders, and then Allenby defeated the Turks to take over Palestine for the British. So much history. Don't miss the water tunnel, as amazing as Hezikiah's tunnels in Jerusalem, just not as well know.

After touring the site, go to neighboring Afula, look for the police station, and enjoy some of the best falafel you will have anywhere in Israel.

“Must see site”

Visit Meggido if you have a guide who has knowledge about Christian History. The remains from the period of Ahab and Solomon was very interesting. The water system was an amazing experience.

“Excellent ruins and gift shop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

Beautiful views of the Valley of Jezreel! The walk through the archaeological ruins of Megiddo was amazing and so educational! It was hot but there was a wonderful breeze. Be sure to take plenty of water to drink while walking.
