Description: In the heart of the Flea Market, in a distinctive Bauhaus building, lies Italkiya Bapishpishim, the Italian Restaurant at the Flea Market, offering dishes of the chef's own personal interpretation. From the see-thru kitchen emerge the delicious smells of fresh cooking, floating above the tables scattered on the street, around the building. The restaurant is unpretentious, fitting for any outing and good time – from uniquely romantic to large family gatherings. On the menu you'll find a large selection of pasta, gnocchi and pizza, as well as special meat, fish and seafood dishes that change daily, and, of course, scrumptious desserts. All that's left is for us to invite you to be our guests.

“As good as it is unpretentious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

Once in a while I frequent this place with my family and/or friends. I must have eaten here at least 8-10 times. This restaurant never fails to satisfy. First you should know that all tables are set out on the pavements (all shaded and fans in summer, gas heaters in winter), only the tiny bar is sort of indoors but not really. The location is the very heart of the bustling flee market, so always a great spot for people watching. The staff is the friendliest, most attentive and accommodating I have encountered - perhaps anywhere. All in all, the ambiance is very reminiscent of a cheerful little trattoria in some alley in Rome. The food is simple but always fresh and almost always well prepared, with some dishes ascending to the level of perfect. Until today I always tried various pastas and fish, which were almost invariably tasty (the crab gnocchi, as mentioned here before, is somewhat of an exception); but the beef fillet stakes we had today proved to me that the people in the kitchen have far more to offer than a good Fungi sauce. A PERFECT steak in every way, served with perfect potatoes and perfect grilled broccolis. Definitely not what I was expecting to get on a sidewalk in old Jaffa. The month wine was also excellent, especially considering its price. Pizzas, of the thin, crispy kind, are very good; salads too. But most of all it's the underlying feeling that this place is run with love, and is based on the desire to make every customer happy. Fridays and Saturdays can be very busy at lunchtime and dinner, so it's wise to reserve in advance.

“The definition of 'mediocrity'”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013 via mobile

Of the many Jaffa flea market restaurants, this was one of my least favourites. Food was rather bland - the anti-pasti lacked taste, pasta and pizza were average, wine was no more than OK. not too good, yet not too bad - sheer mediocrity! At least the price for lunch was cheap. OK for a meal if you don't expect too much.

“A culinary jewel in an unlikely place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

Excellent food, good and cheerful service.
Who would believe that one of the best places to eat a superb Italian meal would be in the Flea Market in Jaffa!
The down-side of this great eatery is that they have no seating inside. All tables are on the sidewalk. Take care not to visit on one of those rare rainy days.
Reservation of a table is advised.

“Best meal we had in Israel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

We stopped in Old Jaffe on our last night in Israel before heading to the airport for a 6am flight. We wanted something not local. We sat at the bar and could watch them cook. The server was excellent. He confirmed our appetizer was his favorite before we ordered. He recommended the wine and it was the best wine we had on our trip. The ravioli was delicious! I wasn't the biggest fan of my crab gnocchi, but the overall quality and taste of everything else really made it the best meal we had on our 12 day trip! The food was simply delicious! We also really enjoyed the wifi. We used it to find a wine store so we could buy the wine our server recommended to bring back to the U.S.
