“Comfortable rooms and relaxing spot by Sea of Galilee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

The Nof Ginosar hotel is a nice hotel run by a Kibbutz. The grounds and rooms are simple and well maintained. The hotel is made up of a series of three-story buildings (some are in the process of being renovated). The atmosphere is relaxed. The buffet food for dinner and breakfast was average quality but plentiful. The lobby and bar area are a bit tired looking but serve their purpose. The location is ideal for visiting Tiberias, the Jordan Valley and the Golan Heights. We visited in winter and had limited use of the outdoor amenities.

Room Tip: Ask for a recently renovated room.

We spent 3 happy days at Nof Ginosar Hotel, run by the Kibbutz Ginosar next door.
It was a perfect blend between a hotel and kibbutz -- and the icing on the cake was the Sea of Galilee which is steps away.

The rooms are simple but quite comfortable and very clean, with all the amenities one would expect from a hotel of this type. The food was always fresh and delicious, buffet style , in a pleasant dining room overlooking the gardens. The breakfast was especially good. The lounge and bar were a great place to meet other travellers and pilgrims -- there is complimentary wifi here ( whereas in the rooms wifi is available for a fee).

It is possible to take a tour of the kibbutz -- or simply walk around on your own. The kibbutz has a large dairy and orchard , both of which are very well managed and interesting to see. The kibbutzim were happy to show us around and explain things.

The " Sea of Galilee Boat" , carbon dated to 100 BCE to 70 CEs, is also exhibited on the premises, in a purpose-built museum. There is a high quality souvenir shop next door, where we stocked up on gifts to take home.

Boat trips around the Sea of Galilee leave from the shores of Ginosar, which is convenient.

Recreation facilities include a tennis court, water sports, soccer field and an outdoor swimming pool.

There are many places of spiritual and historical interest nearby , eg. Tiberias, Safed, Church of the Primacy of St. Peter, Church of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes, Jordan Valley, Golan Heights etc., from the hotel's central location on the western shores of the Sea of Galilee.

All in all a great holiday -- I would definitely stay here again.

Recently visited this Hotel during a visit to Israel and found it very interesting. We had a lovely buffet meal which was ideal as it included numerous local dishes. Only wish that we had more time to explore he area.

The room was good, although it was much too cold since the central air conditioning was still running. They gave me a space heater, which helped a little. We were on the ground floor with a patio, and sitting outside was very pleasant the first evening. The food was quite good with a lot of choices both at breakfast and dinner. In fact, there was an omelet station at breakfast. The bar/lounge that people mention in other reviews was being renovated when we were there. There's a gift shop that's open at odd hours. The second night, there was a thunderstorm and heavy rain which continued throughout the day and night. And that took away some of the enjoyment.

Room Tip: Try for the four-story annex.

The Nog Ginnosar continues to improve. It's rooms are chalet style, the gardens are luscious and the dining room provides nutritious and tasty buffet style food which is extremely fresh. I defy anyone to beat breakfast at this hotel. The staff are a bit detached and the bar staff need a bit of va va voom but the whole establishment is extremely home from home.

Room Tip: Ask for a recently refurbished room.

There are a number of hotels in the Tiberias area (Gai Beach for example) that are vastly superior. The Ginosar is equivalent to a 2 star with a good location but very mediocre otherwise. Food is lower level. If you want a solid to very good hotel (not the King David, but excellent), look somewhere else. Location is good but if you are touring Israel, you aren't there to sit by the shore and enjoy the water..you want a good room and very good food. Not here

The number one thing about this place is the location that it is in. It is right on the sea of Galilee with its own beach entrance. They have a dock in the water for you to jump off of and plenty of beach chairs. (make sure to wear shoes of a sort since its rocky) they also have a pool which is a nice refreshment to the sea. The rooms alone are ok. Nothing spectacular but they were clean and nice. The food was pretty good and they have wi-fi which is awesome! It was nice to experience a kibbutz!
