I liked the whole tour a lot! walking up the Snake Path, the look out over the Dead Sea, the ruins and the history of the place. It is definetely worth a visit. The parking was free of charge.

Live history, one of the fascinating place on earth. Well preserved. I recommend to climb through the Snake trail, quite difficult but the view is spectacular.

“A place not to be missed on to your visit to Israel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Masada was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001, because its oustanding universal significance, which must be protected for the benefit of all humanity.
Masada was th last bastion of Jewish freedom fighters against the Romans. The tragic events of the last days of the rebels at Masada transformed it into both a Jewish cultural icon and a symbol of humanity's continuous sruggle for fredom from oppression.
Built by Herod, king of Judea, Masada was a palatial fortess in the style of ancient Roman. The camps, fortifications and assault ramp at its base constitute the most complete surviving ancient Roman siege system in the world.
The visit of Masada is very easy, By the eastern entrance there is an archeological disply, a film, a model of the plateau and its surrondings. There is a free parking garage and all the facilities. The access to the moubtain is by a thee -minutes cable car or a 45-minutes walk up the Snake Path.. A good idea is to do the walk in the way down.
The site is very good kept, clean, and it is a must for every body, children and elderly as well.

“Masada shall not fall again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Masada is one of the Jewish people's greatest symbols.960 Jews committed suicide there in the first century. Masada is situated on top of an enormous, isolated rock.To get there you can climb the snake path or ascend by cable car.Amazing view.Well-preserved archaeological site and the historical story is fascinating.

“A sunning fortress, amazing views and some Jewish history.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Visiting Masada is all about Jewish pride.
But even if you are not into Jewish ancient history, this beautiful fortress has a view to die for (no pun intended...).
You can choose whether you prefer the easy or difficult way up. Just how difficult is the way up? Well, the most difficult path up is called "The snake path" and it's a 45-minute moderate climb (on a slow pace).
The only thing to worry about is the heat, so make sure to take lots of water with you (I'd say at least 2-3 liters per person for the entire day) and make sure to use sunscreen and a hat.
I'd also recommend starting the climb early in the morning. The path opens 1 hour before sunrise, and if you get there at apx. 5AM, by the time you get to the top at 5:45AM-6:00AM the sun would start to rise in the east, behind the mountains near the Dead sea. You will never EVER forget this sunrise.
Entrance to the park is apx. 7US$ per adult and entrance plus a 2-way ride on the cable car is apx. 18US$.
Highly recommended to visit during the winter, when the weather is very nice and bearable.
