“Best place in Akko!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

The Crusader Fortress is amazing!!!
The moment you enter the fortress you are stunned.
The old archway and the hall are so high and impressive.
Don't miss the old prison.
The air down there is weird and you get a shiver....to know that so many years ago there were real people kept prisoners and were tortured.
The entire subterranean city is breathtaking. This was built a long time ago and still stands!
A masterpiece of art!

“GReat place to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

Went with the family and spent a few hours just wandering around the place. They were doing some construction so we missed out on some things-but still well worth it. If you can, get the audio program as the readable info sheets around the place are few and far between.

“Glad To See That The Work Here Continues”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

I have been in the Crusader halls and tunnels years ago but our recent trip to Akko this May enabled my wife and I to see just how much work has been done to uncover much more of what is extant at this location. This is not only an attraction well worth one's time but also is a place to get out from under the hot sun during the high season. However, be aware that if you find yourself in need of a bathroom, there is one inside the fortress with an attendant who will charge you 3 shekels [about a dollar] to use it. Outside there are other facilities you can use without charge.

“Travel Back in Time to An Underground City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

The city of Acre is worth a visit in itself for it's ancient seawall, great restaurants and museums. Now add to the list the recently excavated Crusader City and Tunnels beneath Acre itself. We took a guided tour from Tel Aviv to here and were amazed by the history and archaeological digs that Israel has unveiled from the Crusader Era. It was a wonderful trip and our guide was most informative and interesting. You can take the tour on your own with an audio guide but having a real person explain things and answer questions adds so much more to the experience. It is a wonderful experience for young and old and a great way to learn the history of the city and this particular period in time.
