“Amazing Hotel; Amazing Experience!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

Just came back from a weekend at the Efendi Hotel. I must say, this was an experience!!! The hotel is set in two renovated old houses in the old city of Acre!! The hotel includes restoration of the original designs and decorations in the old houses. It was renovated during 8.5 years with experts from around the world. As you enter, you feel the amount of efforts, patience and money spent to bring out the splendor in these glorious houses. Each room is different in its size and decor but they all provide the most gracious comfort and luxury required of a boutique hotel. We ate at their wine bar (open on Thursdays and Fridays only) and had a glorious tapas meal which accompanies two bottles of red wine!!! Exquisite wine from a selection of 2,400 bottles as suggested by Elinor the wine sommelier. Breakfast is another matter!!! Freshly squeezed orange juice together with a selection of breads, cheese and eggs (mad to your choice) with fresh coffee give you the kick start required for a great day. The communal areas of the hotel are very spacious and roomy and give a wonderful feeling to just sit down and relax. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. We spent 2 hours in an interesting conversation with Ali, the night receptionist. Uri Buri did a great job in this hotel and we shall be back for sure. Highly recommended!!!!

Room Tip: We stayed at room 6, which was very spacious and had a large bathroom.

This may be the most complicated review as this hotel is not something you can compare to anything else. Everything about this hotel is so speciel, from the feeling at the road to the hotel, the perfect balcony at secon floor, the spectacular details, the huge public space and the exceptional stuff to an owner that made a vision to exceptional fun of being a guess in this hotel. This hotel is a real israeli pride. Go and enjoy. Don't miss the tapas and a wine bar at more than 1000 years basement. Breakfast is excellent as well.

Actually, calling this place a "hotel" is rather disrespectful. This is the place where you arrive and don't want to leave, ever. Staff is very welcoming, warm and professional. The gentleman who brought these houses back to life treated every brick with the same respect as the fish he is cooking in his restaurant.
I also got one of the best ever massage in the hotel spa.
I spend a good third of my time in 4-5 star hotels all over the world. The Efendi is in a category of its own, it will make me travel to Israel more often. It is also the place where I would want to fall asleep for ever, watching sun set from the roof top.

inside the old city of acre you'll find an amazing boutique hotel with 24 rooms built upon the ruins of a structure from the crusaders time & the ottoman empire .
along with the amazing experience of the hotel you can get all kind of holistic therphy treatments , walk inside the old city and feel the wings of history , go down to explore The Templars Tunnel , Knights Halls , The Hospitaller Fortress and much more !in addition to that the hotel owner - one of old acre simboles as an amazing chef specialized in fish & sea food will help youy find the easy way for picking the right fish for the right meal directly from the counter .. guess what .. ther's plenty more ..

Room Tip: all rooms are Excellent !!! the view is breath taking from all around !

We stayed for one night. My husband was feeling very sick and we asked for a doctor, it was Saturday night also, Abugad at the front desk arranged for a doctor and he arrived within the hour. We had reserved dinner at Uri Buri but cancelled as my husband was unwell but the staff organised a plate of food for me which was delicious. Our room was very quiet and peaceful, the ceiling frescoes, the furniture, the little touches like the sweets in the room, help make this hotel a unique and special sanctuary. Breakfast in the dining room is a must. Thank you Abugad, and the rest of the staff, we had a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: We had the Royal room which was quiet and peaceful.

everything was taken in account and in care in the Efendi hotel in Acre.
The place was a palace and became one again. the rooms have all you look for, the restaurant and wine-bar are great. if only it wasn't that expensive...

Room Tip: the simple rooms are OK (and aren't that simple...)

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Nestled in the picturesque narrow lanes of Acre, the Efendi Hotel overlooks the historic city walls and the magnificent Mediterranean Sea beyond. The unique structure of this hotel combines two ancient houses that have hundreds of years of history stored within their walls. These houses were meticulously reconstructed and merged into one building before being converted into a boutique hotel.. Complex preservation and restoration work over a period of eight years gave birth to a gorgeous, breathtaking pearl that was truly a labor of love. Thought was invested in each and every detail of the preservation work, which was performed under the supervision of the Antiquities Authority. Artisans were specially flown in from Italy in order to undertake this delicate work, as well as the restoration of the beautiful ceilings. All rooms in the hotel are furnished and equipped to the highest standards, and each room has its own unique character and style. Some rooms' ceilings feature illustrations, while others are made from preserved wood. Most of the windows offer sea views, while others look out over the ancient city of Acre and the scenic mountains of the Western Galilee. ... more   less
