“Beautiful place but be careful of prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2014

We decided to make a day trip to Tetebatu to see the rice paddies and go to the water falls. We really enjoyed the walk. The view is beautiful and the guide was nice. He explained us how they grow the rice (we saw a rice huller), showed us cassava plants, megnut tree, coffe tree, vanilla plants, ... We stopped to try a locally grown coffee and bought spices. However we decided not to go to the rainfall because of the entry price (150 000 /per) and we were also disappointed by the guide price for two hours of walk (250 000 rupias).

“Not so great as Lonely Planet write”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014

I've been to Tetebatu just few days ago and I don't agree with L.P. guide which writes positve. The village is not interesting. The surroundings are beautiful of course, but the rice field aren't better than in Bali, Java or somewhere else in Indonesia. The monkey forest and the waterfalls entrance ticket is now too much expensive: 150000 rupies! I didn't climb the Rinjani, maybe it's the good place for that, but I don't know. Almost every local are self-styled guide, but it's not true. I had a boy as a "guide" who send me around the north side of the village for 2 hours (100000 rupies), through the rice fields, without explain me anything of interesting. Everybody try to sell you some tour, always the same, but with different prices, from 50000 to 150000. There is a man at the corner restaurant, Mr. Dani if I'm not wrong, called by the locals Mr. Bla Bla, who speaks a lot and seems to be more professional than the others, but he try only to sell you some tour, like the others! He sold me a ticket, through his "friend" in Masbagik, to Sape (Sumbawa) for 350000 rupies, but I'm quite sure that is overpriced and he got a good commission for that business from his "friend". So don't trust too much, neither him, nor the others. In Masbagik there are travel agencies where is possible find travel solutions, and don't pay more than 30000 rupies for an ojek Tetebatu Masbagik, round trip (Mr. bla bla charge 50000). Better if you call Mr. Vram 082236534942, young friendly and honest guy who can help you for everything.

“A great little town on the slopes of Mt. Rinjani”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Great walks in the rice fields with local guides, as well as a peaceful place to relax for a few days. You an also climb the Mt. Rinjani from here with the local guides and porters - the path is easier than from the North and you would most probably be the only group climbing that day.

“Lush rice fields”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

This is a very pretty area and any walk about furbishes plenty of opportunity to snap some decent picts. The ferry trip over to Lombok is very nice as well. Lombok for us was a transition stop en route to Gili Island and certainly doesn't compare in terms of development. I wouldn't have this area as an end point.

“Nice and cool destination for a day trip from Senggigi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

Rent a car with driver at any of the tour agencies or at your Hotel
and go to Tetebatu at the foothills of Mt. Rinjani. A cool and green place with rice fields, spice plantations , water falls and good trecking possibilities if you stay longer. We just made a day trip and enjoyed it very much.(Minivan cost around 500.000 IDR= 35€ or 50 $ for five persons. Tip the Driver extra; he mostly will not be the owner of the car and poorly payed.
