“Good clean basic accommodation.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

Arrived here late in the evening but our rooms were ready. Well appointed and very clean although the bathrooms are very small. Free wifi was good enough for a FaceTime call back home. It can be a little noisy because it is very close to the main Trans Flores Highway so you might need ear plugs if noise disturbs you. Nice that you can refill water bottles at no cost which is often not the case.
Breakfast was the standard fare in these places but it was well presented and arrived quite quickly even though there were 5 of us and the place was fully booked. It is a little pricey but Flores is THE place at the moment so you can't expect the locals to ignore that. Recommended for a one night stay.

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms on the main road if possible.

Friendly clean place to stay. Close to good places to eat. Wifi. Homely feel to the place relaxed atmosphere. Comfortable beds. A good base to see the attractions around bajawa. Drinking water available and they have soda and Bintang.

The owner was an ice cube! Just barking at us because his staff didn't pick our booking right and we needed less room than he thought..
Rooms are VERY clean but there's nothing charming about this place. And it's way overpriced! Flores is generally overpriced but happy happy even more..

Lots of other places to go in Bajawa!

The guesthouse was very clean and comfortable but the layout of rooms reminded me a bit of a school so didn't feel terribly homely. As other reviewers have commented cleanliness can be difficult to find on Flores so it was great to have somewhere to relax and not worry about that aspect. The owners were helpful and friendly and it was a good base for exploring the beautiful traditional villages in the area.

We looked at five different options in town. Overall, we found Bajawa rooms overpriced by a lot compared to the rest of Indonesia. I guess the market is so limited they can.

Happy Happy was clean, new, fresh, and comfortable. We were very happy with all that. But at 300,000 rupia, for a room right on the busy street with a lot (a lot) of street noise, and a lot of noise from the common area I thought 200,000 was a bit more in line with what it should have cost per night.

The breakfast was good. Nice bread & yummy jam.

- very comfortable beds
- very clean room and also the rest of the facility
- the rooms were cleaned every day, the towels were exchanged too (this is not usual for a hostel)

the Happy Happy Hostel (it is not a home stay, since the owners live somewhere else) is definitely a good basis for excursions into the countryside!

There is not much to add to most of the positive reviews allready posted: it is a good place to stay in Bajawa.
We stayed here two nights beginning of december 2012 and yes, we felt happy about the place and its owners. Indeed, Henk may seem a little bit stand offish at the beginning but we found him friendly and very helpfull and the same goes for Marie (she can be rather direct: she comes from one of the islands in the north of Holland).
Clean room, clean and hot shower, good beds, lovely breakfast, good guide, good help getting transport, fast! wifi.
Small Chinese restaurant next door with good and not expensive food.

Sorry, Henk and Marie that we forgot to write in your guestbook. We hope both of you are doing well.
