“Food but not much else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

This is a food area around a park with a couple of shops, we went during Chinese new year so it was closed so really I can not say much except its opposite the Grand Ashton Hotel which was very nice.

“Variety at your door”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

Staying at Grand Aston City Hall Hotel, I find Merdeka walk is so convenient besides having to cross the road in a terribly crazy rush hour, there're lots of variety from local to dim sum or pizza for supper and the price is very reasonable. Enjoy eating there anytime.

“Cheap tasty food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

This place is located quite centrally in Merdeka Square and is surrounded with tall trees and plants. There is a lot of shades available, with seats placed under the canopy of the trees to relax during a hot sunny day. There are many eateries which sells reasonably cheap and tasty food.I had nasi padang from the hawker stall and it was good.I also bought 'kueh lapis' to be taken home. Around the corner of the stalls, there a few souvenir shops selling T-shirts,batik items, keychains, etc. After 7pm, there will be many hawker stalls mushrooming along the corridors of streets, selling various kinds of dishes. This place is well litted at night and the atmosphere is fine for a stroll and mingle with people.

It has so many choices, east meet west, from traditional dishes to fast food, you name it!! I love the ambiance, it was nice place to hang around or meet up with friend.. the food's prices was affordable and the taste so far was good. Been here twice during my visit in Medan. I love the dim sum, it was so delicious!

“Good place to have a late night beer and do some people watching”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

Plenty of small places to eat, drink or smoke some shisha. Great atmosphere with lots of people walking around late at night, and very reasonable prices. An essential part of any visit to Medan.
