“Good Value & Service Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2009

I have spend a holiday in this resort at this 26 -27 September 2009. I going with Friends & family all is around 24 People... We book a packaged. We feel this Packaged is very valuable. This contain a room (our room is at 2nd floor with ocean view room), a barbeque dinner (nice food & Atmosphere), buffet breakfast (many choice), free 30 minutes kayak, free banana boat/ flying fish riding. The bed & the room facility is nice... The food is very nice..... (Especially if you are vegetarian, i very recommended this resort) this is best choice. The service is very good & the staff is very kind..... Thanks for all staff which serve us.... One thing we disappointed is the bus which pick up us has damaged at the half way we gone to resort... ( & we need to wait another bus around 30 minutes at the side of the road) i think they should change the bus hahaha... we will going again...

Positives:
- The resort seems new and, especially by Indonesian standards, very well maintained. The room and the grounds were spotless, with nice springy bed (unlike the usual hard slabs in cheap Indon hotels) and a sea view from the balcony.
- The "Sun Moon" seafood restaurant is excellent and, while mildly expensive by Indonesian standards, much cheaper than Singapore (fish to order, two sides and drinks came to ~S$30 for two).
- Breakfast buffet was quite good if you like Indonesian/Chinese food, but if you insist on Western fare, you'd better like toast and eggs.
- Staff was very friendly and responsive, and no hounding for tips either.
- At high tide, the beach is quite nice, if small. At low tide it's not much to look at, but there are several beautiful coral islands a S$5/15-min boat ride away.
- Pools are on the small side, but there are two of them with two kiddie sections.

Negatives:
- Location is surprisingly inconvenient. From Singapore, taxi + ferry + waiting around for transfer + transfer can easily take 4-5 hours one-way; you could get to Bangkok or Bali in the same time.
- It's a large resort and fills up on weekends with families and banana-boating teens, so don't expect too much peace and quiet.
- No eating, entertainment or transport options in the vicinity, so without your own wheels you're pretty much stuck.

All in all, for S$120 a night with transfers and breakfast, it was worth the money. I wouldn't fly out from Europe to stay here, and staying more than 3 days here would be too much, but for a long weekend getaway from Singapore it pretty much hit the spot.

Very nice package for our 3days and 2nights vacation! Very nice room in the 2rd floor with an ocean view. The food is perfect and so with the rest! Thank you!

My wife and I booked (at the last minute without doing the required proper research) a 2N3D package there. With the waiting at the ferry, a 2 hr ride and the transit to the hotel, it took us about 5 hours to get there. The return was a bit faster (about 4-1/2 hr) but it is still a lot for such a short break.

As indicated by others, the rooms were not fantastic but clean and OK. The hotel staff was generally nice and helpful. The food was not great and the breakfast particularly poor. The restaurants could be nice if a bit of attention went into refurbishing them.

We could not do anything on the 1st day because rain kept pouring all day (we would have appreciated watching TV but there was no decent program available). The second day had some nice weather which allowed us to realize that there was not much to do, that is if you don't like the banana rides and other similar sea sports...and their concert of noisy outboard motors. The beach is essentially inexistent and the chairs installed along the sea so uncomfortable that, after less than one hour, we decided to pack up and return home early. The pool is very small and not quite a place we would enjoy either.

So, for us, it was our worst experience in the area and in 3 years. In all fairness, there was a number of people who appeared to be enjoying them selves.

The place to be if want to avoid the tourist traps of the northern shore resorts.
Staff was very helpful in organizing trips around the island and we almost had the place to ourselves during the weekdays on the weekend the place was full of local holidaymakers and kitesurfers for Singapore and this gave a wonderful view watching 20 kites race out to sea and back again.
Breakfast buffet was plenty and divers and we all loved it. Lunch and diner was good and affordable too if you stay with the local food and avoid the attempts to eat western food.
Indonesia kitchen is wonderful and the resort should really consider doing more with that.
hotel has 2 pools one sunny next to the beach and another smaller one more in the shade between buildings.
Kids loved the water attractions and the fact that any special requests they had were granted when at all doable.

Thanks for the lovely time,

Willem and family

if you're reluctant to pay the inflated prices to be found within the Singapore-run Bintan Resorts section of Bintan island, this place is a good alternative. despite my bemusement when i arrived in the morning and saw a vast swampland where the sea should be (it was simply the low tide), this place has decent water and sand for beach enthusiasts. also available are boat rides to nearby small islands as well as the usual "banana boats" and other fun rides.

the hotel itself is average, nice furnishings and clean, but the hotel staff were rather odd. I went with two friends and thus we had ordered a rollaway cot; when we saw the room we realised that it hadn't been necessary as of the two beds already in the room, one was king-sized. we laughed about this, but decided to keep the cot anyway. however, over the next couple of days, one staffmember kept asking if he could take the cot away, despite us telling him repeatedly that 1. no, we are still using the cot and 2. we had already paid in full for the cot. he appeared quite anxious to take our cot -- i suspect they had overbooked on cots or something...

another thing -- the shower head was broken and had been mended with duct tape when we arrived, which was fine. however, when we checked out, the hotel attempted to charge us for damage to the shower head. fortunately, they quickly dropped it when we told them firmly that the shower head had already been bandaged up when we arrived. i *suspect* it might be an ongoing scam to try to bleed tourists of a bit more money...

however, despite these two things, the staff are overall very polite and friendly. i also greatly enjoyed the food at the sun moon kelong restaurant (the avocado shakes are to die for), as well as the spa services. overall, despite one or two hiccups, it was an enjoyable experience.

Our 3d/2n experience last December was not only memorable but it was a relaxing treat for all of us (my parents and my beau).

Only a few hours aways from Singapore, Bintan Island to start with is a great place to spend a calming time at the beach. The hotel provided a land transfer service from the Sri Bintan Purra Ferry Terminal to the resort. The trip was a bit long for some people who cannot find enjoyment while travelling. From the time we arrived at the resort, you will have a sense of tranquility as its nestled somewhere at the end of the island. You wont see a lot of people outside the villa nor neighbouring resorts. You can splurge on the white sand or take a dip in their swimming pool right after a snack, as its only a stones throw away from their restaurant. The room was very appealing. We had our own verranda overlooking at the sea. We had a great view in the morning and during sunset. And the most unique among all their amenities is The Sun Moon restaurant (a kelong restaurant above the sea). You will also appreciate the friendly crews in the hotel. The spa is exceptionally good for most of the spa resorts that we have tried.

Overall, I would recommend this resort who wants a lulling moment and just a romantic stroll along the beach. I have been recommending this resort to my friends and they weren't disappointed.

Just a piece of advice, you'd appreciate your vacation if you stay there at least 3d/2n. If you're planning to stay overnight, I dont think it would be satisfying as there's a long land travel involved. You'd be more stressed than relaxed.

Adieu!
