“Laid back with adventure punch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

A place to forget your worries. Be lulled by the sea breeze and the sound of waves. Be pampered by the good service and genuinely nice staff who goes an extra mile just so you can enjoy your stay to the fullest. Yet when it's time for the activities and adventure, be prepared to climb, jump, swing, swim, paddle and definitely scream!!! Definitely one of our best vacations ever!

To all Loola staff who made us feel at home :)
Abdur, Achmad, Conty, Dani and of course Tatang who lost his sunglass at sea while taking our family shot while boat netting. There are others whom the names escapes me.

Coming to Loola is like coming home!
More power to you Loola!

Room Tip: The cottage that jutted alone and facing no other cottage is the best.

We all have a wonderful time in Loola. It was great trip, make us want to make it a yearly trip there :)

Thanks to Achmad, Siti, Julia and all the staff in Loola make us fell welcome, comfortable and memorable vacation.
Only thing I could said, is the bus was little uncomfortable cause the weather were little too hot.
other then that it was really fun.

It was good that the kids could get away from the tv and ipad and get outdoors to enjoy nature, and get some sun.

Having read quite a few positive reviews on Loola on tripadvisor, we decided on a 3 days 2 nights stay at Loola Adventure Resort. Darren of Loola gave us some very useful tips for the trip.

Getting to the resort was a breeze. Instead of queuing up at the crowded Indonesian Customs, we were whisked off by the very friendly Jaya who helped us settled all the paperwork. At the resort, we were welcomed by Ahmad who was really helpful and friendly throughout our stay there.

Facilities at the resort were quite basic but it gave you a very relaxed and back to nature kind of feeling. It felt really good to be able to see the sunrise and sunset so close to you. Our two girls, aged 7 & 9, loved the activities at the resort, from coconut tree climbing, rock climbing, kayaking to flying-fox. We were pleasantly surprised at the guts and nerve of the girls. They were still raving about it when they came home. In fact they said this is the best holidays they ever had.

A big thank you to the team at the Loola Adventure Resort for the wonderful time. I have to say the simple kampong-style cooking are quite good too - another pleasant surprise.:)

Lastly, for those foodies out there, do try to get some Kueh Lapis from either Jaya or in town at Kue Lapis Super Sari or Mois Layer Cake House. The cakes are worth the calories :)

We loved everything about it - having 2 boys aged 6 and 7, as well as an 16 month old baby girl, it was the prefect get away. We have never been to Bintan before as the other resorts which most Singaporeans and ex pats go to just do not appeal.

The ferry trip was an adventure for the boys as they have never been on a ferry before and we loved avoiding the hassle of having to fly somewhere. The airport pick up service by Jaya was very efficient and then when we reached the resort, the chalets were amazing. The sea was clean, the water was shallow, the staff were all amazing (really really amazing - everyone of them!), the food was delicious and so much of it, we just seemed to be eating all the time.

Then the activities..... we all got involved and our favourites were the zip line, the boom netting, the sky walk, the kayaking, the rock climbing, the coconut tree - in fact, probably everything!

The chalets were amazing too and sitting on the verandah listening to the waves and reading under the stars after the kids had gone to bed was just the perfect end to each day.

Advice - pack lightly, no dressy clothes required. This is a low key resort and there is no off site entertainment. Pack mozzy repellant as our baby girl did get bitten qute alot. If you are looking for high end luxury and air conditioned units, this is not the place for you. But, if you are up for an adventure and want to give your kids an experience they will never forget, then this is definitely the place for you!

We will definitely return.

I travelled to LooLa with our daughters, aged 6 and 9. This was a great visit, memorable for the friendliness of the staff, the easy pace and the range of activities. We were met at Tanjung Pinang and had a straightforward transfer across Bintan. The accommodation - we were in a hut on stilts over the water - was greeted with 'cool!' from the kids. Basic, but absolutely comfortable and plenty of privacy. The girls loved the fact that the tide comes in under the hut, and the view from the window on the seaward side was beautiful. Elsa was our guide during our stay, and se looked after us with tons of enthusiasm and lots of warmth. She encouraged the girls in the more daunting activities - such as coconut tree climbing - but also had plenty of time to talk about the community and village life. Great range of things to do - after 3 full days, we had to leave some things for next time. Absolutely at your pace, but we sailed, kayaked, swam among mangroves, collected shells, used the climbing wall and 'flying fox' (zipline), and ate a lot! Food was mostly Indonesian with occasional Western 'delights' - chicken nuggets, for instance - according to preference. Seafood, especially fresh local fish, delicious.

Highly recommended. Booking easy and helpful, great staff, tranquil but with lots to do. Thanks!

Room Tip: We enjoyed a hut over the sea.

out of curiosity why loola is among the top resorts in bintan, we booked it for a 3d2n holiday. upon arrival in the terminal, we were greeted by one of their staff and send us in a van. it was a long drive from the ferry terminal and once we arrived our lunch was served a few minutes after by a bunch of people with smiling faces headed by Romi and a lady that always smiles who is charge of food (missed her name). we left our bags in our rooms and then did activity after activity after activity - well you get the picture. from tree climbing, archery, kayak, everything their website has got to offer, it was there. at the end of the day somebody will come to you and ask you what you want to do the next day, what time you want to eat, basically arranging your itinerary based on your personal preference day by day. about the food, it is rare for a resort to be able to cater for all the taste buds of their foreign visitors but i believe they were able to do so - the menu is quite simple but it is appealing to everyone. there is no air-con in the chalets but the sea breeze is enough to make your sleep all well. all staff know their roles very well and they are good at each task they perform. kudos to Darren for flawlessly arranging all the necessary for this trip. the service here is ultimately genuine and you will feel like you are a special part of the big family of loola.

Room Tip: there are 6 chalets. 5 of them on the sea, of course pick one in the sea! :D

We were a party of 6 - two 63 yrs old Grandparents, two parents and a 4 & 2 yrs old children. We went for the Easter weekend from Singapore.

The Resort was really Colomendy in paradise (A school activity centre in North Wales, UK) During term time, it caters for up to 400 school children from Singapore who go for an activity week. They sleep in two large bunk rooms - no bunks, just sleeping platforms and mattresses. There were no children when we there.

The resort also has 5 'chalets' on stilts over the water. Each has its own en suite (no hot water - Eco lodge remember!) and four-poster bed with mossy nets. No air conditioning but you open the three floor to ceiling double veranda doors, looking directly out to sea, and are cooled by the consistent sea breezes. You watch both the sun and moon rise from your bed. Amazing.

All 5 'chalets' were occupied ( about 22 people in total, including children) so there was a full activity programme arranged. We had the run of all the activities with the full staff. Amazing.

We did:

The climbing wall - a proper job with overhangs etc.
Boom boating - throw yourself off the top of a boat into netting strung out alongside.
Flying Fox - Zip wire from top of climbing wall into sea water swimming pool below.
Leap of Faith - climb to the top of a palm tree, balance along a pole strung to another one, then jump off, trusting the man on the end of the rope to stop you before you hit the floor.
Kayaking to an offshore island.
Topper sailing.
Wake Boarding.

When the tide went out, it goes out about half a mile, leaving behind pools etc. we went looking for crabs (by the million), starfish, sea cucumbers, rock fish etc.

There was also a lovely beach to sit and swim.

Also fished from our 'chalet' and caught the odd fish and crab.

The food was very Indonesian and excellent. Rice/noodles and a variety of eggs, meats, fish, vegetables and curries for all meals. Really excellent. Each 'chalet' had a cold box which they kept stocked-up with soft drinks and beer in lots of ice, at ridiculous prices - by Singapore standards any way. S$3, about £1.50 per can of beer. Take your own wine.

To get there, having been picked up at the ferry port by SUVs, we were driven for about an hour, initially along roads teeming with m/cycles then along dirt tracks. This place was really remote.

A really great weekend, full of activity. The kids loved it and Annabel, aged 4, did all of the above (except Wake Boarding) believe it or not. The staff were fantastic. they could not have done more

All in all, a fantastic weekend. It is not for you if you are looking for a luxury spa resort. But if you want to experience a bit of real Indonesia and Indonesian food with plenty of activities, then this place has it all. It is not luxury in the true sense of the word but it is luxury in the experiences you have.

Will go again when the schoolchildren aren't there.
