“Fantastic value for an active holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

I went to Loola with my son 11 yo, and we both had a great time. You get a lot for the price, including basic but clean huts on stilts on the water, friendly and helpful staff, great activities for the kids (and adults), and also very good locally inspired food that the kids like as well. Another important advantage is that Loola is small enough to make you feel genuinely welcome, as might not be the case at bigger resorts where this is more 'proffessional' than genuine.

Loola is a great eco-resort, we were attended to by a very dedicated and happy living team delivering their best to make our stay feeling as friends hosting friends and it's very fun too for kids and parents! Plenty of outdoors and water activities all included in the deal : rock climbing wall, coconut climbing, boom netting, kayaks, sailing boats and if you add a very fair top-up, some awesome massage! The managers obviously include the villagers nearby in running the resort and their great sense of hospitality and attention to details and safety shows they're really dedicated stakeholders. You'll find at Loola what other sterilized 5 star resort will never be able to offer : some true soul and great fun, kids do really get beyond themselves, gain confidence and would never leave the resort!

Room Tip: Those chalets on stilts over the water will give you a soothing sea breeze and you'll totally fo...

Our family (2 kids - 13 & 10) along with another family (3 kids similar ages) spent 4 days at Loola. The management was very thorough and prompt in setting everything up, which included a hassle-free journey from Singapore to Bintan Island (45 minutes) and a 75 minute bus ride to the resort. The resort is very basic, which we felt was spot-on for us and an eye-opener for the kids (who've probably been to one-too-many 5 star resorts). Dormitory bedding (our choice - there are chalets), a short walk to showers, sinks and WC's, no hot water or AC, etc. The staff were very pro-active in setting up and running multiple activities (zip line, skywalk, wakeboarding, tree climbing, boom-net jumping, etc.) and in between, the kids just had a blast exploring the shore line, playing football and running around. Food was very local - tasty, but not something to write home about. We came away incredibly relaxed but also invigorated. I highly recommend it for families with kids above 6. We'll definitely be back!

Not the typical resort (which is good) but with staff and atmosphere that is better than most resorts. Very friendly and attentive people. The resort is great for people with children or, like us, people who just want to get out of the city of Singapore for a good rest and relaxation. The activities are fun as well (Boom netting, climbing, kayaking/dragon boat race, make-your-own-pizza). I would definitely come back with some friends for a long weekend.

No airconditioning, no hot water, no television.

If you haven't wimped out by now, you just might be the kind of person who would have enjoy Loola. its definitely not your run-of-the-mill resort for the unimaginative, leisure and luxury-seeking tourist.

My wife and I had a great time here, testing ourselves and adding sailing a boat and archery to the list of things we're passably good at.The chalets are clean and comfortable with beautiful views (get the sea chalets), the food is no continental buffets, but is simple and wholesome and the staff at Loola are really friendly and helpful. They helped us set a schedule where we did a whole bunch of stuff (including kayaking and a lot of jumping off high places ) and still left us enough chill time to read and relax. What I really liked was that the staff were really conscious of safety, but they didn't treat me like I was going to do something stupid, like killing myself and ruining their equipment. Once they saw that we could handle it, they were perfectly comfortable with us going solo in the sailboat and kayak. Almost all the activities on their are complementary and you can go as many times as you want. The one's that aren't included in the price are easily affordable

This is a place we'd definitely recommend to like-minded people who think vacations should be spent trying new things and stretching boundaries. If you're soft in body and mind and absolutely need that hot shower, you're better off vegetating elsewhere.

Room Tip: Get the Sea Chalets for the best view. There's one Land Chalet and its not too fun. Ask if the...

We visited Loola with two kids (9 and 4.5) and had wonderful time. Though it may appear little pricey (1000 per chalet), it was worth it. Very friendly guides, and chalets right over sea with plenty of fishing rods at hand made our trip truely memorable.

We strongly suggest this resort to everyone with more than 5yrs old kids and recommend to go there as a group. As the place has lot of activities, more the merrier :)

Room Tip: 5 of the available 6 chalets are on the sea. Ask for one of those.

A few friends of mine went to Loola, Bintan on the last week of December. We were greeted by a friendly staff called Jaya who picked us up from the ferry terminal and drove us to Loola. Upon reaching Loola, we were greeted with more friendly faces/staff and Achmad introduce himself to us for he will be our main point of contact if and when we need anything.

Food came in time for us as we were all hungry from the long journey. Its like home cooked food. Hot and tasty. The 4 days stay was comfortable, easy, calm and fun. We participated in most of the activities. Kak Siti and County were among the leaders who lead us to the different activities in Loola. Everyone was very accommodating, warm and friendly. Achmad and the other staffs constantly ask if we're ok ? or if we need anything ? Etc.

It's like in a paradise indeed. Here you are at a deserted island, but there are people who are there 24/7 to cater to your needs. Jaya mentioned if our stay was a good one, and we all said YES! He mentioned the staff at Loola always treat their visitors like family. Like Family indeed. It felt like home.
