“once is enough!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2011

We stayed in Golden View hotel (4stars) as it was stated in the webiste that the hotel is near to beach (so called golden beach) and the whole area is called Golden city.thoght we could spend a nice holiday in the entertainemnt city but....when we reached then only we found out that the golden city is a small area within walking distance from the hotel that contains go-cart, playground, miniature park(which only takes us less than 15 min to go around)... and the so-called beach is actually a man-made lake for banana boats and children's boats... the famous Golden prawn 555 and 933 seafood restaurants were just so-so.. the food was cold and the taste was so-so, nothing was special! the hotel staff was no doubt, very friendly and helpful but most could not communicate in ENglish and they seemed to have very little/no ideas when we asked for some tourist info(e.g. places to go and transport to take).. We felt annoyed by the non-stop horns by vans (bus) and taxi whenever we went out of any buildings or walking along streets.. taxi drivers over charge tourists and since we went free and easy, we were very stressful when dealing and barganing on taxi fare with them... Nothing special in the island, we then hoped to get buy some cheap stuff but found that the price was really expensive in the island which is supposedly to be a place with low living cost ... probably singaporeans may find it cheap but we, Malaysian, think it's more expensive than our local stuff. for instance their famous kuih lapis costs RM55!!

Room Tip: get a room near Nagoya if you like shopping and on free-and-easy trip, barganing taxi fare can be st...

The room is spacious, ok for a 4 star hotel n nice swimming pool. Smoking is everywhere, if u are a non smoker you might not like it. The staffs, especially at night is very courteous n helpfully. For daytime there nearby kart, 933 seafood n flying fox, miniature house musume place to go n free shutter bus to 3 shopping mall (dc mall, negoya hill etc). The breakfast buffet provided by the hotel are only few variety and very simple.

Stayed here for two nights with my two kids. The two good points are the huge room and the excellent and cheap seafood restaurant just walking distance. The hotel is situated in a sub rural area so do not expect too much. Small gym, small pool, nothing impressive. We didn't use any other facilities or activities other than the pool, so I couldn't comment.
Breakfast food was just average, nothing much. We ate at the shopping mall most of the time. Distance is a bit far from shopping. I would recommend Harris Resort if you are travelling with family.
The wonderful seafood made up for it though.
Bottomline, just an average hotel ...but stay if you love seafood...

I was on a weekend trip with friends, a group of 6. Reception told us they didn't have enough 2 rooms for 3s or 3 rooms of 2s thus they put 4 of us into a Suite and 2 persons in another room with 2 single beds.

Rooms we took were 721 and 723.
+ Rooms were very spacious - that's the only plus point I can think of.

- The TV channels were bad.
- Wifi available in room but signal keeps dropping.
- Room smells musky and toilets smell fishy.
- Carpets look dirty.
- Blanket in Suite had 2 obvious stains. Pillows smell musky like the room.
- There was one jacuzzi in the Suite but it looks dirty. Yellowish water dispensed from the shower head at the jacuzzi tub.
- Complimentary toiletries look as if they were randomly supplied - one toilet had shower gel that looks aqua blue in colour that smells like hand-soap, the other toilet had transparent shower gel.
- The next morning, Staff was not able to keep up with the crowd at buffet breakfast. There were mostly empty trays or trays with food debris. Don't know if the food was good I didn't manage to get much for tasting.
- Also, when I woke up the next day my skin on the lower back, calves, underthighs were increasingly painful and itchy. Started out feeling like slight irritation but got worse through the day. I got a shock when I checked myself in the mirror the following Monday because I blotches of bed bug bites! It's been a week now and it still itches! Not to mention the scars that remain..

To play safe I also checked my luggage which I brought on the trip - and horror of horrors I found a live bed bug hidden amongst my things as I emptied the contents of the bag. Of course I smashed it immediately.
- I was bitten on the bed in the Suite, but also learnt one friend in the room of 2 single beds also was badly attacked by bed bugs.

If hygiene is your concern - don't bother with this place. It BITES!
