Seemed deserted his hotel because the location is not too crowded. The rooms that I live in a little damp, so the air is not fresh. The price is not meet with the quality. Too expensive for this hotel.
The area around the closest to the BCS.

For next visit, maybe I choose another hotel.

I've stayed in Mercure Batam for my every business trip due to:
The location - convenient shop just beside the hotel and some local eateries just stone throw away.
The facility - wired internet (merely for mail checking and web browsing), fitness centre and sauna
Some drawbacks (repeated on almost every visit):
The reservation - always offline (unable to link with the online booking system)
The points - always need to upload my hotel bill to Accorhotel to claim my points

We stayed at the Mercure Batam from the 12-18 Jan 13. We selected the hotel over the internet for its location and price. We payed 2686200IDR for the six nights which we thought reasonable. Our room was on the third floor at the end of a corridor which was good as noise easily penetrated from the next door room and even the one above.
The room was spacious with a comfortable bed, good storage, seats, work area, plenty of power points and good TV. There is cable connected internet in the room but the free option is very slow. You can pay for faster access or use the mobile access in the foyer area.
The bathroom was not the same standard being grubby on the walls and in the corners and both the sink and bench marked. There is a shower in the bath that is a little cramped and was not properly attached to the wall so only faced down. The water flow in the shower was very good. The maid serviced our room well except for the bathroom cleanliness. All consumables were regularly replaced.
We didn’t partake of the buffet breakfast preferring to eat local in the street which we also did for dinner except on night when we ate in the restaurant. The meal was ordinary and we had expected better. We were also disappointed that we couldn’t have a wine with our meal as there is a ban on alcohol in the restaurant. We did enjoy cocktails in the Pillers Lounge on a few nights.
The pool, steam room and sauna are excellent but the jacuzzis didn’t swirl properly. The massage in the Eastern Club was very good value. There is also a gym. The garden on the roof is a mess and not worth visiting which was a disappointment.
All staff were very friendly especially the doormen. They all tried to assist us with our many questions but language was a real problem. Only a couple of staff had good English which we found very helpful.
We enjoyed the location of the hotel and once we understood how to use the minibuses easily went from place to place. There are also lots of taxis available. Many places are in walking distance but tourist information is scarce although the hotel does have a map available, although it is only basic. There are lots of eating places in the back streets if you are prepared to eat local. A small supermarket is next door and a larger one just up the road.

Booked this hotel online for 2 days 1 night on March 2012. Mercure hotel is a 5 stars hotel, looks classy and relaxing hotel. Noise free hotel. Cannot find any shopping area nearby, but there is a supermarket 5 mins walk from the hotel and "kfc" fast food restaurant located at the 2nd level. 7 elevent not so far from the hotel and there is one warung nearby the 7 elevent. Beware of the streets, the traffic quite busy. While walking along the street, you can see a few man high on drugs. Scary and not save if u walking at night. Our room facing this scary empty buiding, However the rooms are spacious, clean and superb! Loved the ambience of the hotel room. Great stay for a business trip or a romantic getaway trip.

Breakfast was great, there is also bubur lambok served! There is live station for frying eggs. Half boiled egg are not recommended! Swimming pool opened late! The person incharged was not friendly at all. He told us he just done with the chemical for the swimming pool when it was already 10am? The spa is closed. The person who inchared the pool told us that the massurer balik kampong =_=

Beside that unfriendly man, the rest of the staff were friendly and i will recomended this hotel to everyone!

For your information, the hotel it self guarded 24 hours by professional security who always standby both in the front and back of the hotel controlling and screening any guest and employee traffic to ensure the safety and security of the hotel. We also coordinate with the surrounding entities especially the nearest police station Polsek Lubuk Baja (5 minutes distance by car) in controlling hotel surrounding and its community. CCTV also installed almost in all hotel public areas for hotel guest's safety and security.

Please accept our apologize for your unfortunate experience with the swimming pool attendant, we noted seriously your comment and we ensure you after thorough investigation and clarification, necessary action will be taken and more attentive training will be given to our swimming pool attendant and definitely will communicate to our Spa operator and it will take seriously into this to enhance its service standards and practices to make each of Mercure Batam Hotel’s guest stay an enjoyable one.

Stayed at Mercure hotel together with our family at Mercure Hotel Batam. It was a good experience. Spacious and clean room with very clean bathroom, staff were courteous and always say 'Hi' to our little kid which is a positive point. We recommend the hotel for those who would want a cozy stay at batam since its only a couple of minutes ride via taxi going to Nagoya Hill..

Just hope that on our nexxt visit, internet access will be available on the room since we need to go to the lobby just to gain access to their wifi. but this i major issue since wifi connection at the lobby is very good.

Mercure Batam is a simple hotel in a place where you're probably not planning to spend a lot of time in a hotel. Everything about this property screams average, but good enough for the price you pay. I had some difficulties during check-in since the hotel didn't have my online reservation on their database, and I thought they didn't handle that very well but at least I could use the lobby internet while I waited.

In general the hotel is a little old, and that includes the room, and there's very little to do in the surrounding area. Service isn't always with a smile either.

If you want to hit the mall or the nightspots you'll have to take a taxi to Nagoya. This is a short 10-15 min drive but taxis are a real ripoff in Batam as they don't seem to use meters. Anyway it was only a short trip and I did have one of the best massages ever at Spa Secret so was happy enough. 3 stars for this average hotel.

Had a great 2 nights stay at this hotel over the weekend. Really enjoyed ourselves (me and fiancee). The pickup transfer arranged by Mercure (abt 15mins journey) from Batam Center cost rp60,000 (to be paid with hotel bills).

Check-in was smooth, even tho we arrived as late as 9pm. Was greeted by their live band in small pub which was alright. Staff were warm, courteous and very friendly, even the door guys.

The room was spacious, nice and cozy. Love their bed, and they have an extra pillow which is a bonus. A nice Wardrobe to keep our belongings and clothes, a/c was quite cold so i had to switch it off.. Lol. But toilet was good!

Called their room service and we had a plate of Casaluna Fried Rice (rp65,000) which was delicious and nicely portioned.

We could really make do with the 24-Hour convenient store K-MART located right beside the hotel; to resup cigarettes and some drinks.

The breakfast was sumptuous and excellent. It varies from breads, eggs, malay food, noodles, fried rice, laksa, cereal, and fruits.

Travelled to Nagoya Mall and Golden Prawn Seafood by the Hotel's taxi. Fixed fare but negotiable; About rp25000 to Nagoya Mall and rp60,000 to Golden Prawn.

Didnt matter if the taxi fare was abit high cos the driver (Mr Dodi) seemed trustworthy, non sleazy and honest. He was friendly too, no frills. He did suggest places to visit but I had to postpone it, maybe on my next visit to Batam.


The only setback was the very small sized pool, and crampy hot tub jacuzzi. Maybe some reconstruction could be done to have a bigger 24hours swimming pool and a bigger hot tub jacuzzi.

And also, check-out was abit hiccupy cos one of their card machines couldnt accept MasterCard. Was held up for a good 15mins but was finally rectified. I'm okay with that tho.

Other than that, i must say i enjoyed my stay and will definitely stay at Mercure Hotel again!

Total Bill: IDR1,290,000 (2 Nights stay with daily breakfast, 2 Pax. And room service for Casaluna Fried Rice.)
