As in any secret destination, i'm torn between greed and helpfulness in sharing this refreshing hotel sitting on a hillside.
For the remaining days after Christmas day, i genuinely had a disappointing time looking for a hotel room that i can book for the weekend, even the usual ones i book were all fully booked. But just when i was about to decide to stay put in town, i was able to stumble upon Lyori Aerohotel online and was able to place a room confirmation over the fone before leaving the house and riding the ferry to Batam.
My trusted Batam driver Abang Aji (+62-812-7755-3558) picked me up at Harbourbay. Lyori Aerohotel was around 10mins away from Harbourbay, and I was able to check in at 2pm and was quickly ushered to my Deluxe room.
When i got to my room, the realization of getting a great deal rushed to my head. And until the next morning over breakfast, i was giddy and overwhelmed with luck that i was able to book miraculously and stumbled on the best deal that i've had for quite some time now.
The room quality, the staff, the hotel design and feel, and the breakfast buffet can be genuinely compared to a well-established 4-star Batam hotel.
I will let the photos speak for themselves. Delightful to realize also the next morning that the hotel has its own Pastry chef... how cool is that??!! The croissants and danish pastries came out from the kitchen freshly baked and the entire breakfast shift staff were all snappy and efficient in serving the guests. And especially in the morning, the outside temperature could get a bit cold and breezy, as it is in an elevated location.
Despite the "odd" incident with the safety box, everything was delightful and charming as a well-guarded secret. And like any best-kept secret, i hope other guests will come with reasonable expectations, so that they can give the hotel a chance to delight them immensely.
