My 10 hours stay in Batam spent in this hotel. Big room, good rate, and nice staffs .. Well i only met it all as i didnt take my breakfast. Good location, only less than 5 minutes walk from Harbour Bay

a 4 stars hotel which really worth for money. is a very new hotel and near to harbour bay ferry terminal. all the staff very friendly and with nice smile. breakfast also nice and quite a lot of choices. pick up to nagoya hill is 50k IDR with the new taxi.

Straight ferry to Harbour Bay reachable within 45mins from Harbour Front.
We booked a deluxe room and was given the 5th flr room which is their top floor. We were there around 12pm but was given the room immdtly :) Room was just USD 50 !!!!
The room was very posh with a super huge comfy bed and pillows and we luv them!! In addition, a lounge chair and study table with a chair with LCD TV.
The bathroom was huge too with rain shower but although the hotel is new, unfortunately the bathroom shower head and the towel hangers are hanging loose of the wall due to heavy weight.
But it wasnt a issue at all. The hotel lobby staff were friendly. The guy Steven was good. The chambermaids along the corridor never failed to smile and greet us. All toiletries were given. Breakfast was good with lots of variety. There were afew massage parlours juz opp the hotel. Bt we took a cab to go Nagoya mall and did our massage there. We had our lunch at the Bella Italia restaurant at Harbour Bay itself and the pasta and pizza were mouth-watering!
As for dinner, there were a long stretch of seafood shops at the ferry terminal itself. We ate at Wey Wey restaurant and it was very cheap but the taste could have been better.
Overall it was a rest&relax affordable weekend getaway :)))
We are already planning our next stay there now :D

Great points about the hotel:
- Located in a quieter area of batam, it's great if you prefer less human traffic.
- Near to the harbour bay terminal and hence, there's no need to catch a taxi to get to hotel (which is no laughing matter after you have taken over an hour to clear the customs during peak period)
- clean and comfortable room (except for the persistent mosquitoes in the room)
-Good selection of tv channels(there's hbo and fox movie premium, though the connection seemed unstable at times, especially in the evenings)

Room for improvement:
-Smoking is allowed indoors. Being sensitive to smoke, it's terrible being surrounded by smokers puffing away in the restaurant and lift lobby(stayed 4th floor but figured it's the same everywhere). Perhaps the management can consider designated smoking areas?
-water in the showers is only luke warm at best. Temperature can definitely be higher
-Shortage of staff, probably due to the hari raya holiday. Breakfast was chaotic. With most food items running out at 9am, most guests naturally zoomed in the egg station, which was manned by one exhausted staff.
-When checking out, I pointed out that the final bill was incorrect. After a long drawn process of checking and re-calculating by staff, I was told that the incorrect amount was due to a problem with the hotel's system. What was appalling was that I was asked to sign off the incorrect amount first and they will charge me the correct amount! He finally amended the amount after much insistence and a final warning that I need to leave. Total time taken for entire checking out process was more than 20 mins...time taken for him to amend amount? - 1 minute. Despite all these, my credit card bill still showed a higher amount being charged.I am waiting for hotel's response to this.

Conclusion:
A good choice if you wish to stay in harbour bay area. However, do note the peak periods and most importantly, check your bill.

This hotel recently opened, is a surprise given the surrounding run down neighbourhood. Very close to the Harbour Bay ferry.

Whilst the staff are not fluent n English, their enthusiasm to assist is wonderful; Even if it is a few trials during a stay.

The restaurant is a good, with quality ingredients. The bar; staff were challenged by English, still managed to make a mean cocktail with a smile.

The rooms are contemporary, however a little small and lack of cupboard and draw space.

The hotel offers an in house executive style taxi service. Recommended! About 10-20% more than local taxi; however charge to our room and air conditioned , and no bargaining.

Well priced against AUD vs Singapore equivalent.

Use it fir a few days to visit other Batam highlights

Room Tip: Ask for a room with inner courtyard view. Nicer than neighbourhood

First the good: the hotel itself is very conveniently located next to the ferry terminal. Befitting a new hotel, the rooms were clean and comfortable. We found the bed and bedding much to our liking. The water temperature and pressure of the shower was great. However, the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor and often flooded half the bathroom whenever a shower was taken. The insulation between the hallway and the room was also quite poor, so depending on the other guests, it could get quite noisy even in the room.

The bad: the pool was a murky cloudy colour - the water filter must have been broken. It was not swimmable. Although check-in was supposed to be at 2pm, we were not give our room till 3.30pm. The hotel did allow us a late check-out when we asked for it. Also, we ordered room service, and the drinks we ordered with the food came 1.5 hours after the food. We also had to ask the front desk to take the drinks off our bill at the end of our stay.

All in all, the hotel has good hardware. Perhaps it is still in the teething stages, but the service can be improved. Although we were compensated for our inconveniences, we had to negotiate for them. A sign of a great hotel would be the graciousness of offering to find ways to compensate our inconvenience without being asked to.

A friend of mine made a recommendation to try out this hotel because it's newly opened. Pricing is very reasonable but because I went on the 8-9 August which were public holidays it seemed like the entire Singapore dwellers + expat population spilled over into Batam.

In terms of infrastructure, things were great - rooms clean, professional business-looking hotel. Only 2 things I had gripes with were the standards of service and the pool. The pool was small and was not well maintained, it looked a little milky! So much so that one of my friend's 4 yr old did not want to get into the pool. On the 2nd night, we had a sleepless night because we were bitten by mosquitos in our hotel room - not like it was a resort so I wonder how the mozzies got into my room in the first place.

Regarding festive holidays, one thing I felt the hotel should have done was to make sure that there were enough staffers around to handle the higher occupancy levels. breakfast food was notably good, but there was chaos amongst the staffers and I could literally see angry hotel guests asking for table seating despite having to wait for a considerably long time. Staffers were just overwhelmed clearing plates and replenishing food. One poor lady was assigned to cook eggs for a long queue of what seemed to be at least 10-12 people waiting at the egg station. So, for this bit I think the hotel failed on coping with higher traffic.
