stayed over the weekend. location is okay. hotel room is spacious and clean. except that the lights are a bit dim. and its a very quiet place.
dislike: we had trouble opening the door at midnight after coming back from shopping. the staff that helped us came like 20 minutes after we made the call. and he seemed abit drunk.
like: breakfast! very nice!

Had a good restful stay in Novotel during this recent trip. Very close to Harbourbay and main eating and shopping areas, Novotel Batam might be slightly fading on color on the outside, but its certainly bubbly and busy in the inside.

As it was busy for the Vesak holiday the next day, the front desk was understandably busy. But still, the helpful attitude and warm smile of the staff who helped me check in made up for the waiting in the queue.

The laundry team was very helpful also when i wanted to get some clothes pressed. A bit pricey though, but the friendly and accommodating attitude made me feel well looked after.

Got a bit annoyed though when there are times that no one in the front desk was picking up my call. I expected that unattended calls would've been routed to the operator if they remain unanswered after 4 rings or so.

And the ironic thing also was that when i tried calling up the "Guest Relations" line in order to speak to someone, the most un-guest relation person answered my call and coldly asked me to call the operator instead. If i were a shareholder of this hotel, i would've asked, not for the re-training of this person, but for an immediate replacement instead. Quality versus quantity is always better, esp for the value the hotel is charging for a night.

The buffet was okay, and the breakfast staff was spectacular in welcoming you to your table (or helping you locate your ideal table if you haven't found any), and even fetching you your first energizing cup for the day. They've done it so warmly and intuitively, that one couldn't help but smile in delight. Topnotch!

Was hoping i could take a dip in the swimming pool at some point in my stay, but since it was a weekend holiday, the small pool and the eager families wanting to swim made the plan a little unattractive. Also, since the pool can only be accessed thru the dining area, you can imagine the wet, slippery and mucky floor that ensued in that area. No staff looking over the pool area, and no rugs to absorb the dripping guests that go in and out the pool area toward the dining room on that morning.

The noon shift manager helped me check out swiftly and conveniently by lunchtime. I wish she could have asked me if i needed a taxi (or better yet, given me some coupons for discounted buffets for next time), but still everything was good and delightful.

Definitely will visit this hotel again next time---esp when there's a weekend promo.

We stayed here for a night on Sunday under a Batam Tour Package. Check in was efficient and fast and welcome drinks immediately offered. It was a quiet day when we arrived and not many guests stayed here that day.

The outside of the hotel looks old but inside is actually quite grand and clean. Rooms are Novotel standard, seems like renovated not very long ago. King size bed huge, clean and comfortable. Plenty of TV channels, including Singapore channels, international channels, HBO, Star Movie as well as their local channels. Wifi is also free and signal strength quite good.

Our room was on the 4th level but the corridor smells, don't know why. There is a sitting area outside the lift on level 4 with a mini library.

Dinner and breakfast at The Square was very good. Some items were on 50% discount for Sunday. After 7 pm, the Cafeteria offers slice cakes at 50% discount and whole cake at 30% off. We bought a nice cheese cake and brought it back to Singapore without any problem. We also bought a kuey lapis at Diana during our tour which cost $25.

The hotel provides shuttle service to Nagoya Hill and Batam City Square and other areas around town. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Front desk staff helped me called the travel agent to send me our ferry tickets. We took the hotel arranged taxi to Batam Centre Ferry terminal which cost 80K rp. Might be slightly more expensive but the vehicle is big and clean and driver very careful.

While the location may not be very near town, Novotel is really a very good business hotel. If arriving at the Waterfront ferry terminal, Novotel is just a short walk away in about 10 minutes. Will likely stay here again should we visit Batam for the service, comfort, quietness and a good night sleep.

We stayed here for one night on 24 May, our request for connecting rooms were obliged. The location of the hotel wasn't accessible and we had to hire the hotel's driver to be transported to Nagoya Hills mall. Each trip costs Rupiah $50 but the car could accomodate the five of us comfortably. The hotel rooms were spacious and we had no issues with the cleanliness. However, the corridor area and lobby of the hotel have a weird smell. It could be due to the hotel having smoking rooms. If you are sensitive, bring along an air freshener. The rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. However, we find the pillow too soft for our liking. The water pressure and temperature were good and we had no problem getting a good bath. We had lunch at the Japanese restaurant when we arrive. The service is slow but the food was delicious. The bill was very expensive based on batam standards. Each persons have to pay around S$20 for the meal.

Room Tip: Ask for non smoking or connecting rooms

A short vacation with my family and relatives. Room (Superior) is big and clean with good strength room WIFI. The room offers basic amenities, such as hair dryer, 3 pin plug, complimentary bottled drinks and bathroom care amenities.

Went to the Mosaic lounge, ordered a plate of chicken wings (average) and chicken nuggets (average) and I ordered a glass of white wine.. Is cheap.. cost roughly SGD 8.50 and my cousin ordered a whisky coke.

Breakfast was good enough and wide variety of foods. Overall, everything is. Probably the service staffs has to be more friendly.

Stayed over the weekend in mid-April. Managed to get a late booking and no regret staying in this hotel.

Bedsheet Cleanliness: good

Staff: Courteous, able to converse in English

Aircon: COOLing (Good got those that likes cold room. The aircon was superb)

Shower: Hot water running.

Toilet: There was a bath tube.

Lights: Bright enough

Wifi: Able to connect, to surf news in the room

TV Channels: All the local Indo channels and some standard international channels (i.e. CNN, HBO)

Safebox: N.A.

Breakfast Buffet: Decent basic breakfast. Cannot expect a superb buffet, but its good value. Drinks like not so promptly refilled.

Room Service: Responsive room service. Its food charge were reasonable (about $10 - $15 for a chicken chop).

Massage: Did not try

Swimming Pool: Small pool. Uninviting. Looks poorly maintained, “dirty”. I believe it had to do with the color tiles.

Hotel Room Chairs: There was a sofa instead of the standard 2 hotel room chairs. I liked it a lot as the sofa gave a roomy feel and distinguished the place from other hotel. There’s a standard chair issued too. I did wish there was another chair, so that our seating arrangements can be more mobile. But no complaints, as other guests might not like having another chair taking up space.

Location: I stayed mostly in the hotel, so cannot comment a lot. But seemed like it’s a location slightly away from the buzz of the town. Didn’t looked too near to shopping area. On my trip home, I noticed quite a number of roadside stores near the hotel. Looked interesting to explore.

On the whole, the hotel might not look nice from the outside. But once you were inside, everything was fine. I checked in around 9pm and there was still someone playing a piano in the lobby for the guests. Even though it’s a small daily routine gesture, I liked that a lot, as it improved the ambience of the place.

The receptionists somehow did not look too helpful or friendly. But when you started to communicate with them, they were helpful and friendly. There’s no problem in using English to communicate. The staff at the main door was also very friendly and helpful. During my check out, I noticed there were some domestic air crew staying in the hotel too.

Overall from lobby with the piano, to the sofa in the room, bathtub in the toilet and the presence of a pool (even though its uninviting), I felt that this management had made the effort for this hotel to be a 4 STARS hotel and DESERVING SO. I considered this hotel very value for money. It lived up to a Novotel brand expectation. I would like to give it a good 4 out of 5 stars.

Location ideal for access to port industrial areas and only a15 minute walk to the Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall although the hotel provides a taxi service that works very well and at a very reasonable cost. Not certain I see it quite as a 4 star establishment however, staff were very pleasant, gym adequate and spa facilities good. Food is adequate. Only real disappointment during my stay was ordering a lasagne which was served warm on the outside and cold in the middle......

Room Tip: Some rooms especially fifth floor have poor Wi-Fi reception and AC performance appears to be variabl...
