Bought the package from deal, try to do the reservation through their website but failed, luckily found the email and surprisingly they are very fast in response to the email and booking was done within the day. The friendliness of the staff is the best thing I experience in the hotel as they always great u with a smile. The room was simple and clean but there is some ants around the minibar area. Hotel do provide the free shuttle bus service to Nagoya hill but I would like to suggest to have more slot for the return timing as 2 hours to shop in NHM is totally not enough. There is no shopping mall nearby the hotel area but since it's near the beach so I suppose it's main for tourist to enjoy the water sport nearby. There is a big pool in the hotel and nice massage available. Overall it's a nice and pleasant stay in Harris Resort Waterfront for a short trip.

The hotel is distant from Batam Centre and one is completely dependent on it for food, transport and just about everything else. They know how to use this advantage with food and transport prices that are about 5 times higher than in town. A can of coke at dinner was USD 5. We complained about being trapped like this and were then given a daily free trip to town with the shuttle bus to have about two hours in a shopping centre (Nagoya) in town to try and get some food and provisions for the family. We felt nevertheless that what they were trying to do was a sheer, unashamed rip-off.

We are sorry to see that the pricing of our food and beverages was found on the high end
and we apologize also about the feeling you received that the hotel is a trap in terms of pricing and location as the waterfront area nearby and in proximity there are restaurants and bars.

Stayed at Harris Resort waterfront for two nights from 6-8sept. The facilities and services provided was good. We planned a surprise birthday celebration for my friend there and Harris team set up the room beautifully. It was indeed a great team effort. A great stay for families with children. The staff are all warm and never fails to greet each guest with a smile. :) thank you Harris Resort Batam. We had a great time and will definitely come back.

Resort is clean and generally maintained ok (by local standards) but little to do other than lounge around the pool and it is some distance from anywhere. Room size is ok with simple furnishings, and clean.

So, me and my girlfriend came across this really "attractive" resort we saw on groupon. After googling for images and also looking at a number of good reviews, we gathered that this place should be the heaven in Batam. Well, not really.

Firstly, the ferry ride from Singapore to here is quite draggy. We had to stop at Sekupang first before eventually coming to the waterfront terminal, which is as quiet as the scenes in 'the walking dead'. Then, we were told that there are shutter buses from the terminal to the resort, but as mentioned, it was practically quiet as hell, and we could only entrust our luck on the taxi driver, because even the immigrant officers couldn't understand English.

So, we agreed to a 4 bucks cab fare to our resort, which to our surprise again, was only a 5 mins journey from the terminal. The place was quite a disappointment too, not exactly what you saw on the internet. But, the service is quite good, probably akin to what I have seen in Bangkok.

So we walked to our rooms, which was in another building. Surprisingly, in a good way, the room is good. Not like the dirty and foul-smelling rooms we remembered in Nagoya One (another hotel we stayed during our last visit to Batam). Honestly, the room is awesome, and there is even a sceneric view from the balcony, and it was spacious and comprises most of the necessities we needed. We forgot to bring our adaptor and alcohol opener and the hotel staff was kind enough to serve us quite promptly. This is indeed commendable.

Another downside of this resort is that it is located nowhere near the city, or the biggest mall. Nagoya Hill, in Batam. And the taxi are already standardised to charge us $32SGD to and fro to the Nagoya Hill, which is quite expensive in a place like Batam. Also, prices are hiked up in their convenient store, $3 for a instant noodle? No way! We were also disappointed with the worn down building next to it - not much activities, vacant rooms, no lifts, expensive and random japanese restaurant? Worst off, the water sports section is under renovation.

In conclusion, I see many potentials in this resort. The facilities especially the building I mentioned (which is also where the spa is located) can be renovated and improved. The prices in their shops can be marked down more to attract more buyers. More activities can be held. Shopping malls can be built nearby to attract more tourists. More shops can be opened at the 'the walking dead' ferry terminal. Also, less hidden costs will be appreciated.

Stayed at the Harris Resort Waterfront for one night from 6-7 September for a company trip.

The resort is about 30 minutes from the Sekupang Ferry Terminal. Our check-in upon arrival was quite smooth as our guide handled it for us. The lobby was basic and almost spartan. The moment I stepped into my room, I could feel a combination of dust and stickiness on the floor. The bed linens were clean, but there were some strange spots on the towels in the bathroom. The room was obviously configured to be a twin room but had one queen bed instead. This meant the side tables, which were bolted to the walls, could not be reached if you are on the bed.

The lighting in the room was wholly inadequate. With all the lights switched on, it was still very dim. Perhaps that was their way of hiding the many imperfections in the room. The day bed in the corner groaned uncomfortably when you sat on it. The curtains felt dusty to the touch. The air-conditioner made a very annoying loud whirring sound the entire night - which meant it was not a good night's sleep.

There was no hot water in the showers. I only discovered this past 11pm at night when I tried to take a shower. Despite turning off the cold water and turning on the hot water to the maximum, all I got was ... room temperature water. Some of my colleagues had no water pressure in their room. Another one of them had the shower handle dislodged from the wall when he tried to turn the water on.

We had a dinner event in the Orange Room, which is located on the second floor of another building. Let's say you can no longer see the orange in the Orange Room - the colours were so faded you might as well call it the Faded Room. In the same building that houses the Orange Room is the gym. Despite its decent size and seemingly decent machines and weights, the gym smelled so musty I couldn't stay in there for long for fear of getting an asthma attack. It smelled as if it has not been vacuumed, cleaned or its windows opened for months. In and around this building is a Korean and Japanese restaurant, which looked really sad with a very (very!) faded drawing of a Korean cartoon character plastered to its door. Behind the building is where one can apparently have a game of paintball. When we were there, the grounds were overgrown, there were puddles and everything looked in a state of disrepair. In front of the hotel lobby is where guests can indulged in (what is touted on their website as) 'Jembatan Goyang Activities'. It was, just like the paintball grounds, in total disrepair. We could not venture too far into the overgrown grounds before we were accosted by red ants and had to make a run for it.

The layout of the resort meant some of the rooms are on the same level as and right next to areas where noisy activities are being held. The morning we were supposed to check-out, there was a company event with loud music and screaming kids being held right next to room 2101 from 9am. You can imagine the annoyance this caused.

Breakfast was served at the Harris Cafe beside the reception. The food was average at best and it seemed the staff couldn't cope with the large number of guests. The egg station had no eggs for more than 30 minutes. The glasses beside the fruit juices were not replenished for so long we resorted to using the cups for coffee for our fruit juices.

The only positive thing about the hotel was its staff, who tried their best to put on a brave front, greeted and smiled whenever we encountered them along the corridors. But the state of disrepair of the resort grounds and facilities threw a very sad air over everything. Even if you are on a tight budget, you would be better off spending your money elsewhere instead of using good money and getting sadness in return.

Sure as hell not gonna go back.

From the group organizer general comments the feedback has been positive and the atmosphere especially at the karaoke and dinner was very good.
it has been alarming to see that you mention the lack of hot water as the whole building is connected to a central hot water pipe which means that all rooms would be with no hot water and we did not receive any other feedback at the time.
We are sorry that the noise of the children wake you up but as a family resort we do have organized activities and groups like the one you participated also.

the first room that was given to me has an electricity issue and the manager upgraded our room for free and personally carry out bags to the new room.

excellent customer service and staffs willing to translate for us to the driver where we wanted to go
