“My Three Days Stay”

First of all, I must compliment the staff for their very attentive and warm services. The staff and one who even dressed up as a "Joker" attending to children, teaching them how to make paper animals, coloring etc. There are also the organised activities for adults such as cycling, water polo, jogging etc. The Saturday night pool side performance, with songs, dance items and guests' participation, is just as impressive.

Nice and clean rooms.... look like renovated recently. However, my room had a water heating problem. Heated water only lasted for half a minute but the ever polite technical staff told me that he could not tell what went wrong and had to check with his Chief Engineer. That was the last I heard from him. Anyway, couldn't be bothered about it anymore and had to make do with the lukewarm bath/shower.

My other disappointments are that the temporary gym was not open earlier in the morning for early risers like me and there was no sauna or steam bath near the pool area.

Food from the resort was definitely expensive....S$20 for a simple plate of grilled chicken chop. But my little girl liked it a lot especially with the butter fragrance and the nice mushroom sauce.

Overall, still a pleasant and relaxing stay.

We just came back from Harris Resort. We stayed at Harris for 3D2N.
Our room is a normal Deluxe room but very LUCKY that it is a seaview room. We can see the nice seaview and also pretty sunset. It is very clean, good enough & comfortable because we have a very "kings" size bed..haa..haa..

All the staffs there is very very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our yummy complimentary breakfast, our dinner + listening e live band singing in the bar.. You must try their PIZZA - Meat LOVER.
It's realy very very nice.

We stayed at Harris for 3D2N. It is okay if you are on tight budget but dont expect much. Here's our personal experience.

We wanted to change our room to a poolview room after we entered our guardview room. The recept said okay but it will be a twin-bed which is fine for us. After bringing down all our baggages, the same recept told us that there will be add'l S$40 charge per night. We got fred up and bring our baggage back to the same room again.

Free shuttle bus to nogoya town is available, but advance reservation is required. We asked different staff, but none actually advised us that. We waited at the lobby at 2pm, and was told that there is not enough seats. Fortunately, they managed to get a bigger bus, otherwise it will be a great disappointment.

The massage varied according to staff. Some put in strength, other seem to be just touching our skin. We have pre-booked 4 sessions, 1 out of the 4 is good. First day, they put us in a room, which looks like a HDB flat room, with the walls looks cracking and an old wardrobe there and a non-functioning bathroom. We have other sessions in a hut, which does not look very secure, people can see through inbetween the horizontal bamboo sticks. And it is not sound proof ! Our neighbours were chatting away, while spa supposed to be a relaxing and soft music ambience.

The normal delux room is clean and spacious. It is good enough. We are not sure of cabana room, but it seems quiet there.

The pool is 2m to 0.8m height, as for the jacuzzi, only one air pump is working and rest not in working condition. We didnt enjoy it.

The gym room is quiet, near the spa building, but away from the main building. We brought our sport shoes there, but after visiting the gym room, we gave up the idea.

The cafe plays local music instead of international music.It does not give us BBQ or poolside dinning feeling.

Overall, communication with staff must be in super details because they only answer directly at your questions without any further info given. The maintenance is lousy and it does not have a resort ambience. It is a boring place. It is just an experience for us, and we will not go back again.

We had a welcome from Harris staff when arrive at the Waterfront - they collect our passports and we need not queue to clear immgration.
The hotel is just five min away. But the hotel is fully booked so we can only check in at 2 pm.
It is a pleasant surprise that we had a free pizza or set lunch for 2 vouchers per room. There is also free shuttle voucher for day trip to town. 11 am and 2pm respectively.
But the hotel is v crowded with a few group of company conference going on...the waiters are too busy to attend us. And the General Manager has personally helped to serve us!
Their friendly smiles make cool us a bit.
The rooms are clean , athough the bedding is a bit old. The room can cater for 3 adult. We ask for a king size bed and there is a sofabed avaliable too. The bathroom is ok.
The kids enjoy the dino kid room. There is adequate toys to keep them occupied. We take a taxis ( 70k ruppiat) to go Mega Mall. The CJO Donut is a must to try... cost around $4 for 6 donuts. Dont keep overnight , it is good to eat fresh on the same day. The Timezone is really cheap , with 20cents per game.. must go!

Our kids visit the hotel pool but there is leaves floating around. Not v clean. with dragonfly above our heads. The weather is very windy and rainy so we only stayed a while.

For lunch. Try the hotel pizza - very crispy and they used traditional oven to bake ( with real firewood).

The resort is cheery and no complaints except it is very crowded . The checkout for the company group is not organised properly and nearly miss their ferry . the counter staff is too busy handling them that they ignore us.....until the General Manager step in to request someone to sent us to the ferry terminal.

I can recommend the hotel for a short getaway. it is relaxing and comfortable.
by the way, the hotel charges food on SGD.

Harris Resort is a wonderful place to be having a getaway in. Wonderful facilities nearby with cable ski and also very friendly staff who makes you feel at home.
The japanese suite that we tried staying in was one of the best that me and my hubby stayed in before. Into the suite, you'll be welcomed with a cosy room prepared with pleasing aromatherapy lighted up. Not forgetting an outdoor japanese hot stone bath in the balcony of the suite that spices up our stay in the room. Very romantic, I must say. Upon calling of the service, the staff will drop by to prepare the bath for you with fragrant rose petals as well. Superb service!

I took up the Spa package, its a 3 hr full body spa treatment, S$138 for spa n 2 days 1 nite accomodatn with breakfast, sounds gd huh? Ya I should thought so too until i saw the outdoor bath tub stained with mud, looked as if its not been used for awhile and definitely not regularly maintained.

Anyway the Spa manager walked into the little hut where me n my friend were having our massage. She informed us that they were having some problems with the bath tub pipes, (they couldn't get water from the tap) and asked us to return to our room and wait. 1 and 1/2 hrs later, she called. We went back to do the body mask and to relax in the milk bath.

The hut has only bamboo curtains as walls, anyone can peer through easily ,but the management allowed their male staff walked around the huts like nobody's business as the female massues smeared mask on our naked body. I was very uncomforatble about it, and when its time for us to go for our bath, we found the bath tub filled with yellowish miky water. Yes the water smelled like mud. How could they let their customers soaked in muddy water?!!

We left the spa unhappy , I asked the manager about the bath, she looked very uneasy and didn't even offer any apologies. I guessed she knew abt it yet she still let us go ahead!

NEVER will I go there again.

Spent Chinese New Year at the Harris in a Cabana room with my family. The room is clean and spacious with basic facilities and also includes a DVD player.

The facilities are good, clean and simple which adheres to their marketing although the resort fails to inspire. The pool is large and well laid out so for families it's great to relax by or swim in and the extra facilities such as indoor bowling alley, go karting (next door), cable skiing etc etc could keep any family busy for a weekend. It just seems to lack something. The staff are friendly although not really sure of what is required for a 4 star hotel. The restaurant food is OK but serves on plastic placemats and cheap cutlery. The breakfast is fairly basic although adequate. The hotel offers everything but nothing is of a high standard. The spa has cheap massages but the towels are stained and the staff just perform their job, the restaurant has a good selection of food but nothing terriby inspiring.

The hotel is 30 minutes from shopping (free shuttle), Batam has nothing to offer for shopping unless you want to save some money on basic goods. There is no beach to speak of and water sports are offered although not enticing.

Overall this hotel has tried very hard to offer a good standard of accommodation on a limited budget. Don't expect any extras or luxuries here, just a clean and friendly place to stay in Batam.
