“I will NEVER be going back to KTM Resort Batam!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2011

Firstly, what a disappointment my first visit to Batam Indonesia was...and a large part can be attributed to the fact that we stayed at KTM Resort Batam...

Photos do lie...on the website the resort appeared clean and trendy but when we arrived, we were shocked to see how neglected and run-down the resort was!

The room was small, the floors creaked, the bathroom needed a MAJOR renovation, the resort was run-down and boring, the pool was dirty, and the room was AVERAGE...and that is just putting it nicely.

Then, we almost missed our ferry back to Singapore as the reception staff messed up our transport to the harbour...lucky we got up early to account for the extra hour and a half we had to wait to get to the ferry. AND THEN...we had to pay for our ferry tickets back even though they were supposed to be included in our tour!!!

SADLY DISAPPOINTED....!!!

Room Tip: Don't go...

The one thing that we have to rave about for KTM is their beautiful by the sea massage huts. As you get the massage, the sound of the sea and the beautiful scenery will up the entire experience.

Apart from that, the little bungalow that we stayed in was probably not in very good condition. The aircon was not really working and the fridge was definitely spoiled. The bed was a little too soft and the pillows were too soft and quite uncomfortable.

The staff were friendly and they were pretty helpful at the front desk. But a taxi ride out to town was quite expensive. (About SGD$30)

It's probably worth it if you get a packaged price which throws in a massage. Otherwise, it might be better to stay elsewhere.

Spa's very nice with delicious ginger tea. People there's nice and enthusiastic. Accommodation's ok. The food's nice. It's hard to go shopping ( have to take cab for 24 SGD) and not-good swimming pool. Booking progress's very fast ( I booked the afternoon before and can ready to go next early moring.

Room Tip: Better to upgrade to family cottage.

my 2nd visit to KTM resort...the first visit, we gotten the seafront villa...its a dissapointment as the room is super small...

but since me n hubby loved the quiet out of town feeling with the kampung atmosphere...we decided to go there the 2nd time and this time we give the deluxe room a try...

the deluxe room is located near the basketball court...and its not too near the seafront tho...but i simply love the room...its big and its all wood...linen is dirty and bed is more comfy compared to the seafront villa...

to visit there again..hmm...i will think twice about it as there is nothing much to do unless u wanna stay indoor wif ur partner...

cheers

Yes. Those 4 words pretty much sum up my 3-day, 2-night stay on 3rd Feb - 5th Feb 2011.

Affordable - The package inclusive of the spa massage, hydrotherapy & foot refloxology was a steal at S$200 during the CNY holidays. Food at the restaurant such as Fried Seafood Beehoon was at RP 28,000 which is just abt S$4. Canned drinks from the convenience store in the resort was at RP15,000. The convenience store was important to obtain necessities such as food, drinks and medication.

Simple - In the day, everything is peaceful. I had much joy seating at the balcony at 5am Batam time till 7am watching the sky brighten up. a BEAUTIFUL sight to enjoy instead of the hectic busy city life in Singapore. The room, a beachfront villa I had, was simple. Shower, toilet w/ spray hose, a working aircon, a pleasant bed, a TV. i had no complaints. Balcony was an important place to relax. it is VERY important to get this beachfront villa if you're going as two couples. Take two rooms side by side. The balcony is a shared area between two villas. I liked the room and the entire resort as a whole honestly.

Noisy - Lo and behold, the convenience store also sells FIREWORKS that anyone can just purchase and fire it up by the swimming pool at night. Yep, no kidding. BY THE SWIMMING POOL. you just have to light up the end of it and fire away.... PIUUUUUUU BOM BOM BOM BOM BOM!~ It seemed like there was no guideline as to what time all this noise-making SHOULD STOP. Other guests were still playing it after 11pm. My partner was awoken by one at 3am. Don't expect any staff to stop them because I don't think they do. I suggest if you want to stay here, be prepared to stay awake till 1am before sleeping. Trust me.

Scary - I checked in. Went into my room. Went for the spa immediately.. Came back to my room and was lying on my bed with my partner. imagine how SHOCKED we were when the guests from the previous day HAD A KEY TO ENTER OUR ROOM. This shows that at that time, there were two guests with two keys to the same room!! Apparently they were leaving late but their belongings were already removed by housekeeping. STILL, there should not be 2 keys lying around. The guests from the previous day SHOULD BE REMINDED THEY NEED TO CHECK OUT. A complaint was made to the front desk and they apologised to us with two coconuts. We were worried about safety issues. What could the two other guests do if they entered our room but we weren't inside and our belongings???

So yes, the resort stay here is affordable, simple, noisy, scary. Amazing place for a short getaway. If you're coming here, EXPECT to stay up till late before sleeping. I dont think the fireworks playing is only for the CNY period. I would give my stay here a 6 out of 10.

Will i come back? I will. & i will ONLY sleep after 1am. not at 10pm. you'll be awoken by fireworks!

Book through spa villa for a 3 day 2 night stay at the resort. Not a bad resort consider the amount of money spend. of cuz for maybe a hundred dollars more one could stay at Harris or maybe Holiday inn. Well, not a bad place. Free pick up from the hotel to the resort. Upon check in, confusion regarding the spa package. Front office staff can speak english, but they kind use the standard phrase, when u ask them a question, they look at you in a confused mannner.

Room is not really fantastic, but cosy. We book a beachfront villa room. Located jus beside the small lagoon. Windy and the view is pretty good. Luckily on the first day, nobody was staying beside us. on the second day, someone check in to the villa beside us, we could basically hear thier conversation. well, the balcony was a shared between the two rooms. No Fridge in the room, just a very standard room.

Staff was friendly in terms of service, but most of the staff there don't understand english. Try using hand signal.

Resort is quite far from the city area. Taxi is roughly 30 min to Batam centre. Cost around 12 sing bucks. A friendly advice, you could ask the driver to wait for you while u shop and pay them when they send u back to the resort.

Breakfast is nothing Wow, just a few items like bee hoon, fried rice, sweet N Sour Sausage and toast bread. My partner and i rather sleep and go for lunch. We order sharkfin soup, tom yam soup, fried rice, horfun, spring roll, stir fried chicken and drinks for roughly 30 bucks. Well, the serving was quite big. so depends on how you think.

Spa was not really good. The view from the spa is nice, however the staff there was talking among themselves while we are doing spa. Not a very good way right? while trying to relax, they are talking among themselves.

*Impt* >> please confirm your ferry departure with the front desk. When we finish spa, we will suppose to take 1820 ferry back, we thought that our seats have been confirm like what the front office staff said. When we reach the ferry terminal, we realize that it was not confirm. luckily there was seats available. I suggest look for the lady in the front desk to do confirmation for you.
