First impression of the hotel was that it was a newish hotel, and has a classic and elegant look die to the roman pillars as its design.
As you walk into the lobby, it is spacious and has a good waiting area with good seized sofa suites to relax in while you are checking in.
Bear in mind that in most hotels in Batam, they are smoking hotels, so while your room may be a non-smoking room, the guests are allowed to smoke in the lobby, in the restaurant and even on your floor while waiting for the lift, they are just not allowed to smoke in the non-smoking room. So your room will still stink of the smoking stench, if you are allergic to smoke, this will be a huge problem for you as well as for asthma suffers.
Checking in was easy and painless, even for 9 of us who have reserved for 3 rooms.
After checking in, we went to out respective rooms to unpack, as we took out some clothes and flipped the blanket over (just as you would do when you are about to go to bed) there was blood stains (it was still red) on the blanket. The bloster pilow was also very filthy. It had multiple stains on it. I rang the hoousekeeping department. The girl who took my call was very apologetic and said she would send someone up to my room immediately. The guy who turned up at my room was a totally different story.
He rang my door bell, had a smug look and a smile about him when he asked what was my problem. I told him I had a stain on my blanket and he said to show him where. when i brought him to the bed, THAT WAS when his smile and smug look disappeared. Even HE could no pretend not to see the blood stains! He didnt apologise, he just said he would change it now for me. I had to ask for him to change the bolster too. in the end, either he saw that there was mre stainson the nedsheet that I didnt discover or that he did it as part of the package but he changed the bedsheet, the blanket and the bloster case. He didnt not change the pillow cases.
The bathroom is big and spacious. there is a huge bathtub. THe shower space is adequate as well however, there is no one for you to put your shampoo and conditioner bottles, so you can only either 1. put them on the floor (although the floor wasnt that clean as we could see bad mould near the drainage in the shower floor) or 2. leave the bottles on the table just outside the shower door so you just have to open the door when you need the shampoo or conditioner.
Water pressure was good though.
Breakfast is from 7 -10am, we got there about 9.15am after our exercise. Most food are either gone and NOT replenished or they were left uncovered with houseflies buzzing around. We ate only the omelettes and toast. We asked for waffles or pancakes but the cook serving the omelettes said that there was none left. It was only 9.15am and there was NONE left? no more flour mixture? Anyway, while there are quite a few variety of different food available, they are either not kept hot, or not kept closed therefore they are unhygenic or they just arent replenished. It is just enough food to keep you going and get you checked out of the hotel.
The gym has good exercise equipment and the pool was kept clean with the cleaner cleaning the pool by 7.10am. Most guests do not turn up at the pool till about 8.30am. It is not a big pool maybe about 10-15m at most each length. I was up at 7am and could still do 100 laps (yes it is a 100, not 10 laps :) )and be out of the pool by 8.25am and that was when familes with the kids are getting into the pool, so if you want the pool to your self to do laps, be up early.
Overall, if I have to choose again, I will not choose this hotel again because of its cleaniness.
My husband was sick for 2 days after this stay. I would choose ihotel or google tripadvisor for better hotels.
Room Tip: TOO DIRTY ! Choose elsewhere... Ihotel would be better
