Jamoo, the main restaurant at the Shangri-La Hotel Surabaya, is simply not very good, which really is too bad because the Hotel itself is great. On any given night they serve sashimi and sushi, prawns, scallops, crab, a variety of cooked Indonesian dishes, and lots more. But the food either has no flavor or it's been sitting out too long, or both. Eating here is like a chore -- have a night out with some friends or family at a second-rate but fancy looking restaurant and nobody really has anything good to say about the food, which drags down all other conversation, and in the end everyone is overfull but unsatisfied.
