“A visit to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2008

Can't understand why anyone should have anything but praise for the accommodation at this excellent hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and offered us great discounted rates during our 3D 2N stay.

The swimming pool was clean and well maintained with excellent poolside service. An internet cafe is located in the grounds of the hotel and a gamalan orchestra plays nightly in the main pavilion.

The cost of food and drinks is high by Javanese standards and you have to add on service charges as well. However several decent restaurants can be found a short distance away should you require an alternative (and cheaper) option

This hotel is built a around a central pavilion which dates back to the 19th century. This wing houses reception, the restaurant and the coffee shop while all of the rooms and bungalows are in more modern buildings

Our deluxe room was very large and had a sitting area and a balcony. It had all the usual facilities except the selection of cable TV channels was very limited. All in all, it was well appointed and comfortable.

The hotel swimming pool is very large and well maintained but was a little crowded on one occasion.

The food in the hotel is overpriced so we didn't try anything except the buffet breakfast which was included in our rate; it was fairly good.

The hotel offers complementary transfers to and from the airport which is a great service.

Stayed one night at Sahid Kusuma and thankfully not a day longer. Apparently cited as "one of the most stylish places to stay" in Solo by one of the well known guide books and apparently a former palace of one of the royal family members - those were my main reasons for booking rather than stay in a generic chain hotel for a change. However twas a huge disappointment after the Grand Mercure in Yogya (beautiful and recommended for ambience). Must say the palaces in Solo themselves probably had seen better days so should not have expected much.

The Great hall (pendopo) which probably was the main hotel reception was under renovation works (not mentioned in any websites) so again disappointed after hearing so much about it.
Intially given a cabana room next to the pool - room was tired, damp stains on the wall and beetle in the bath; definitely seen better days; managed to get room changed to what was a "mini" suite which was marginally better, though water was not hot (luke warm); mosquitoes and a smell from towels. Just couldn't wait to get away. Breakfast was ok - buffet style with enough choice to suit most tastes.
Overall would not recommend it for the price - could have stayed at a boring chain hotel for the same price (USD 42 incl breakfast).

Stayed 1 night at hotel.
Garden setting design with back door of your ground floor hotel room opening to the large swimming pool ideally located just a few meters away!
Hotel is further away from the main shopping and eating places, not within walking distance, as compared to Sahid Raya Hotel. If you want peace and calm for a relaxing stress-free holiday, this is definitely for you.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
Will definitely recommend this hotel for my friends.

Staffs are very helpful and there are the Java orchestra playing at the lobby at night for free.

I and my family love this hotel so much. We get the real traditional Java wedding ceremony pictures and take photo like a king in kraton because it is the old palace.

Our room is large enough and also has a balcony to see the pleasant view.
