“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

The 1st time i stayed here was a month ago and I got the good room, but this second experience made me change my opinion and i dont want to stay here anymore except there's no other hotel available.

It said 5 stars hotel but the real is far from it. I got a very small and old room with bad bathub condition. They even didnt give the new shower gel in my 2nd day. And the worst part was the wifi quality was very poor. How could I choose 5 star hotel for my work trip while i coulnd even send email with the wifi. Very disapointed :-(

Booked via Booking.com & got a fairly good price on the room (approx. 60 USD). We got room 224 on the Merdeka Wing, which is part of the 'old' hotel - not the new condotel wing.
At 1st glance, from the alley leading to the room, everything looked dated; which was expected since the hotel had been around for a while.
Got into the room, and dated was putting it mildly. There were dilapidated floor boards, torn bed sheet, electrical socket falling off, mildewed wall/window sill.
There were no face towel provided and no hair dryer, and there was no sign offering guest to call housekeeping should one need to borrow them.
The room was clean but it was just so worn out. So yes, although it was the 'best price' offer, it is not at all good value. The 'best price' somehow entitles the hotel to give you a lousy once-a-5-star room. They need to seriously consider refurbishing the place to a proper 5-star standard and charge whatever is appropriate for a 5-star hotel.
Pool & gym was in good condition; a night swim after 6 pm is recommended if like me you had a hot Bandung day. The hotel had a couple of shops at lobby level incl. the May Star chinese restaurant & an Alfamart. Parking spaces are plenty but it can get quite tight when occupancy is high. Location is of course pretty good as the hotel is at the city's center.
Staffs was helpful, courteous & kind enough to make sure the bed selection request was met.

Room Tip: A room at the new condotel wing may be a better choice; but do be clear about your bed type selectio...

Generally, the ambiance and character of the hotel are very good, and the Mayfair restaurant is great. The foyer, entrance, and pool are all all 5 star international rating. The staff are also uniformly nice from the people who service the rooms through to the ones who check you in.

However, the room is a big let down although it is of a big size, super clean, and the bed is comfortable and I slept well except for the train noises on the railway line that ran by the hotel.

The room they gave me was not very good even though I was there for 10 days for business, it overlooked the railway line so that was always noise especially in the morning, and then there was pool activity noise like receptions that came in through the open windows of the lift lobby area.

Really strange bathroom design, with a simple shower hose over a bathtub, which drained so slowly my feet were always in several inches of water.

The hand basin was not in the bathroom but the entry way to bedroom, and the basin was a silly design with a sloping front that when ½ full of water, would slop over the lip if you washed or shaved, spilling water on your feet.

Tiny refrigerator that was completely iced up. 2 very small thin towels, no hand towels and no face wipes – what?? Even a 2* in India has better towels than this, What a joke. The towels are neither Grand nor Royal! This is supposed to be a 5* more like a 2* or even 1*.

The toiletries were in that sort of hard plastic that you couldn't squeeze any contents out, and the toilet paper and tissues were jokes, thin, cheapest quality and about 2 ½ inches wide. Useless, lucky I bought my own but not used to this in supposedly a high quality hotel. The toilet roll holder is also annoying, it has a sharp cover and is behind you so you can only reach around and get a few sheets at a time, most annoying.

There is a small kitchenette with a microwave oven but no hotplate although there is a range hood over where it may have been designed to go. Not much space to store anything, there was no shelf space by the basin, or in the bathroom, so mostly had to leave those things in the suitcase and bring them out for each morning.

No proper desk or working area, just a silly triangular table with 3 small hard chairs so couldn't do any work here. The room lights were a mystery as well, couldn't work out how they all interacted, some worked fro the bed, some from the wall, but if you flipped a switch they changed so getting them on and off was a lottery.

Not much for breakfast for Westerners, eggs to order, 2 cereals corn flakes and rice puffs, lots of cut fruit, and some cold cuts, toast, sausages, etc. The Indonesian food was plentiful but not to my taste, sugar and sweet in every dish.

Conclusion? Won’t be back again – too many better choices in Bandung.

Room Tip: Not much choice - if you get a pool view room there is a nice view but could be noise from functions...

Recently, I had the pleasure of spending 2 nights at your hotel. I must say that the staffs, food and service were impeccable. However my letter is in reference to the services of the manager,Mr Aji Satriya. Throughout our days, we found Mr, Aji to be of invaluable assistance in the planning of our activities in Bandung. He is a seasoned professional, clearly exhibit genuine interest of sharing local experiences, thoroughly knowledgeable of his metier and of the beautiful city in which he operates and its points of interest. At every turn we found his advice and direction pertinent, thoughtful, and enormously useful.

But he served me beyond what I could have reasonably expected when my parents left their passport in the hotel safe box after we were heading for check-in at the airport. Despite of the massive traffic jams, he manage to handed over the passport right on time before the Silkair counter close. Not only did Mr Aji show great concern for me as a guest, but as a brother human being, He very appropriately took my request where I received immediate and excellent care, he accompanied, guiding me and quickly acquiring all needed services. No one could ask for more.Mr. AJI is an extremely capable, caring employee, and a great asset to your organization.Wise managers and a rewarding individual to all guests.

My family and I had a great time in Grand Hotel Panghegar. We will definitely return to stay again at your hotel!

We stayed in weekend and booked by agoda. Unfortunately there was no notification if this price is for old room, if we want to upgrade to new type room we must pay 200.000 IDR. The old room is quite small and standard, the shower not very good but the bed is very comfortable. We delight found an excellent meal for breakfast with good taste and variety of meal. also surprised with warm water in swimming pool so my kids could swim longer in cool weather of Bandung. we have a great time there although our driver have difficulty when staying in driver room we booked.

Room Tip: check the facilities and type of room when booked by online reservation cos there are many type of r...

Stayed there for 3 days towards end of August.

The hotel looks grand but i guess it is past its prime now. The stay was comfortable, we came in pretty late thanks to the traffic on Jakarta Bandung highway.

Hotel staff were very helpful in suggesting things to do in and around Bandung. You have a convenience store within the hotel premise that can help you with train tickets if you want to take the train to Jakarta.

The Room that i stayed looked like a service apartment, it had a microwave and some utensils for minor cooking (not required for me).

Food, specially the morning breakfast buffet was probably one of the best that i had in Indonesia. All in all a good options to stay for a short trip

Room Tip: Good in the sense it is conveniently located to see the city and shopping areas.

Last week end, September 14, 2013, we Rotarian in RID 3410, held a seminar @ Hotel Panghegar Bandung. I came rather late on Sep 23, hotel was fully booked, but fortunately I get my High Floor preference room, at the Condotel wing. Although it was a smooking room, I was not bothered by smokey smell. The front office staff was friendly, so it was a good start for staying in a hotel.
Our seminar was good. I must say that the Bandung Style buffet lunch was also very delicious according to my critical palate. I enjoyed most was the "Panghegar Special Asem-Asem soup"... it is not Tom Yam, not just an ordinary Asem-Asem. The hotel also served a good "Mie Kocok".
Thank you to Panghegar management for giving us a good service.
