Description: Cafe Wayan and Bakery Established in 1986 We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 28 years. Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road. Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys. Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too. Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.

“Not just Eat, Pray, Love”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

There was nothing to NOT like about Cafe Wayan. I'm sure a fair few travellers visit because of it being featured in Eat Pray Love, but the food and service, the ambience especially in the more open part at the rear of the restaurant, are the real reasons to visit. Attentive staff, delicious food. We had dinner there one evening, and returned for lunch on our last day. More than worthwhile.

“Great fesh food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Large choice of fresh dishes, very tasty and fresh food. Loved the Thai salad and Thai soup, as well as the Balinese buffet. the seating is lovely in a lush garden, and low tables - romantic and very practical for families with small children who can play around.

“Balinese Platter - Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

I have reviewed Cafe Wayan before, but our last visit just proofed again how great the food really is. If you are really hungry have the Balinese Platter. It even beats the Nasi Campur! Always go to the very back of the garden to enjoy the tranquility of this place, whilst having some outstanding food.

“Relaxing setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We came here after a busy midmorning shopping at Ubud market! We sat at the back in the garden just by the lotus pond and on low fluffy cushions. It was a relaxing afternoon with some very tasty spring rolls, chilled bintangs and the fan above us. Definitively a lovely place to come and relax in the gardens...a lovely little relaxing get-away from the hustle and bustle of the main road and shops..
