I was booked into somewhere else but, on arrival, I was told it was overbooked and I’d have to stay at Nick's for one night. After one night, I decided I wanted to stay there without even seeing the other place! Nick’s is a short walk from the centre of Ubud in a quiet street of rice fields, warungs and a few Western-style café-restaurants. When I first saw Nick’s, it made me think of a stone temple set behind a rice field. I could see lush jungle from my balcony, which also overlooked the pool, and there are lovely gardens and water features throughout. It’s a very relaxing, secluded and quiet place. The staff are very friendly and helpful. My room was huge, with aircon and fan, bar fridge, writing desk and chair, and large bathroom with bathtub. It didn't have a TV, which was not a drawback for me but may be for others! Breakfasts were great and the dining room overlooks the rice fields. I never used the free shuttle bus, as it's only about 10 minutes' walk to town. I found Nick's Hidden Cottages an absolutely delightful place to stay, and I’d love to return!
