Dec 13, 2009 | Trip type: Family

We booked Kajane (via the internet) after reading TA & were not disappointed. Everything was exactly as described. We are family of 5 (2A, 3 teens) & initially booked 2 rooms in Danu Gading (cluster) which was fine. The only down side to that was the other 2 rooms had people staying which meant there is not much room at the pool (ie: only 3 lounges) to cater for 8 people (2 in each room). So on the first day there were 2 other people using the pool (& lounges) which meant our family of 5 couldn't sit outside near the pool. The only place we could sit was in our room or 2 chairs on a small balcony. On the plus side they were just finishing off a 'public area' pool with 'swim up bar'. It's located just outside the cluster so if you needed to spend time around the pool with a few more lounges & more space this will be great - have a look at attached photos.

After the first night we asked if any other 2BR villas were available - lucky for us there was the 'Loji' which was way at the back & yes you did have to climb 49-50 steps to get there which put me off a bit as I'm not that fit! But after seeing the fantastic villa with our own 'infinity edge pool' & 4 lounges it was worth the extra $$ & maybe I just might get used to walking up & down those steps after 10 days.... Really wasn't too bad I guess. When we went out in the evening Kajane always came & collected us (& dropped us back) at the rear which meant we avoided those steps. They were always more than willing to drop us wherever we wanted even though Kajane is in a fantastic location, right in the middle of Monkey Forest Road. Travelling in December is very hot & humid so nice air-conditioned car at your door was most welcome!

Loji has heaps of extra space inside & out - huge outdoor area with 2 sofas & table & chairs, large fridge, not to mention ginormous kingsize bed, beautiful bathroom, plasma TV, DVD player which we could plug our IPod into, all in airconditioned comfort. The only thing I could fault is the internet is not brilliant. The wi-fi almost never worked in our villa & had to go down to the lobby most times, even then a lot of times it wouldn't connect there. So that was a problem as we have a business & needed to stay in touch. They do have cabling installed in the villas ready to go & should be done in the near future, so hopefully wouldn't be a problem next time.

We thought the kids might get bored not staying near the beach as this was our first holiday not beachside. But they loved it & weren't bored at all as we had our own pool & honestly when we have stayed by the beach at other places quite often we end up spending most of our time around the hotel pool anyway. We did hire a driver a couple of times from outside the hotel who took us to Kuta/Legian/Seminyak. Cost about AU$30-$35 for the day. We left about 9.00am and got back about 4pm and we were so glad to be coming back to Ubud after being in all the hustle & bustle.

I can't really say anything different to what has already been said....staff were fantastic - always smiling & happy! I can't remember all their names but nothing was too much trouble. I agree with all other reviews, this alone makes us want to return to Kajane. If you have any hesitation in booking this place then JUST DO IT! You won't be disappointed.

We stayed in Beiji Kila Villa and it was fantastic. The villa was beautiful. The service at the hotel was absolutely perfect. The staff were friendly and could not have been more accommodating. We went on a bike tour and had massages at their new property. Both were great ad well worth it. Breakfast was served in our villa each morning and tea in the afternoon. We really liked the location because it was right on Monkey Forest road but when you are in your villa- it is quiet and peaceful. I would definitely recommend and hope to stay again in the future.

My husband and I picked Kajane Mua for the first part of our honeymoon trip........and how perfect it was. We booked the wood house with them, which was their newest villa at the time and as part of a honeymoon package, we also received spa treatments, a candlelit meal, honeymoon cake and balinese wedding photos.

We arrived late at night and were met at the arrival gate and quickly brought to a comfortable AC'd vehicle, and given cold drinks and towels. En route to Kajane the driver pointed out a number of sites. On arrival we were led down this dimly lit path lined with beautiful trees and plants. Check in took a matter of minutes and then we were led to our villa. Two large wooden doors were unlocked and we were escorted down 2 flights of steps as nocturnal life boomed around us. Then it emerged - perfection!

The bed was the largest and most comfortable I have ever stayed in. The bathroom was stunning, and especially so given the gigantic granite bath filled with warm water and petals on arrival. Even the carved wooden ceiling above the bed was noteworthy. ....... and then there was the second part to this villa - a living area with yet another bathroom and wonderful outdoor shower. And in front of this, a large decked area with a small swimming pool. The greatest element was the fact that one felt totally isolated there due to some ingenious planting. None of the other villas could be seen from ours.

The staff were phenomenal. I have never experienced such hospitality before. They almost anticipated what you needed before you even knew. The level of cleanliness around the villa and grounds was astounding - stray leaves would quickly be removed. And all this without feeling that staff were intruding!

The food is a little pricier than other places, however, the snacks and starters are worth it - the best we had in Bali. The local sparkling wine and arak cocktails were actually cheaper in Kajane than a lot of other places. We did explore other local restaurants but though mains were not as good, the little extras and the wonderful service meant that Kajane also hit the top notes for food and drink.

I cannot recommend this place enough, and if you are going on a honeymoon package - experience everything. I was a little reticent about the photo shoot, but it was a lot of fun and now we have some great photos to remember our trip with - kooky but wonderful...plus I dont believe I shall ever get my husband in a sarong with makeup on again.

A treasure....

Like everyone else that posts I loved it. It was a splurge stay for two friends backpacking around and it was worth it! The service was astounding and looked after us so well learning our names right away and always using them! I could rave all day but you get the point, if your staying in Ubud this is a great place to stay! We did the quad but we were the only ones there half the time and the other half was just as great. Thank You Kajane Staff for making Ms Emily and Ms Kimberly feel like special guests!

I was comtemplating a couple of options for staying at Ubud and boy was I glad we chose Kajane. Stayed at Kajane for 2 nights and that was too short. Really wished I could've stayed longer to enjoy the Beji Kila.

The Villa is amaaazinggg with our private pool facing a mini rice terrace and lush greeneries. The bed was super comfy and turned down every night and air con swithed on so we'd come back to a nice and cool room.

The location is perfect, in the middle of all the shops and restaurants.

Breakfast is a choice of English, continental, japanese, indonesian (with choice of chicken rice porridge, nasi goreng, mee goreng), waffles and come with fresh fruits and fruit juice. Good start to the day enjoying breakie overlooking the pool.

The service is just fantastic. All the staff from the front of house to the maids, and gardeners would greet us (with a smile too) everytime we cross path. Really haven't got this kind of service from anywhere else.

Would definitely go back to Kajane Mua the next time I'm in Ubud.
