“Excellent for Honeymooners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2011

We stayed here for 3 night during our 2nd honeymoon in Bali.

When I checked in, the receptionist said that all room are full booked. So, we got an upgraded room into the royal suite room. THANKS GOD !!!!

It was a perfect place. There was 3 building in the suite : parlor gazebo, the room and functional room. It has quite big infinity private pool. The location of this villa is in the top of other villa. So it is very private. No one can see us from the top.

The room was great, the bed is super king size (2m x 2m) decorated with traditional balinese style, complete with LCD TV, DVD player, Music player, great bathroom with private jacuzzi inside. The room and toilet amenities were great.

The royal pitamaha it self has an astonish and amazing view. It located in the ayung river valley. The view from the restaurant is amazing. The public pool were amazing. The spa location were great too. Complete package for honeymooners !!!!

The standard villa I think also great with private pool, private jacuzzi and all bed room overlooking the valley. But you need to walk many stair because it located in the valley.

The service of the people are excellent, the food taste from the restaurant good enough.

Thanks for the hotel that as honeymooners, we got nice gift from the hotel and our room also decorated beautifully.

You can reach Ubud Center by using their free shuttle bus every hour. You can try Warung Nuri`s, Nasi Babi Guling Bu Oka, Nasi Ayam Kadewatan with the shuttle bus. Just ask the driver.

This is the best hotel in my entire life !!! Very recommended...Thanks to weddingku.com as I booked the honeymoon package from the website.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in late august and were blown away by how beautiful the hotel is and the amazing quality of the service. The website simply does not do this place justice. Built into the side of the valley the hotel overlooks the ayung river and the villas stretch down to the river bank. Each morning we had breakfast and did complimentary yoga down by the river bank. We stayed in a pool villa that was near the top of the property and afforded an amazing view of the river and the opportunity to sunbathe and swim in complete privacy.

We loved the fact that the property felt very Balinese with statues everywhere and even a "holy" pool set in the garden. The 200 or so metre long lagoon was also great for swimming in.

The service provided by the staff was great...our room was magically cleaned and turned down twice a day (even the morning we left), and the hourly shuttle service into ubud (a 10 min journey) always left punctually. They were also more than happy to arrange for the shuttle to drop us and pick us up again from restaurants that lay on it's route. The wifi worked a treat too.

All in all an amazing place.

When you first arrive to this resort, the view that comes with the welcome drink is just breathtaking!
Beautiful setting with traditional luxury Balinese style all over the resort (is not a coincidence that the resort is a king’s property). Everything here is aged in a wonderful way and you are in the midle of a tropical environment.
We had a villa near by the river. The truth is that villa’s near by the river are a bit far away from main lobby and breakfast area, but that did not really bother us, as walking through the resort was always a pleasure. Villa was very spacious light full and clean with old style furniture but very well maintained. The only problem was the morning light! If someone is used to sleep in a dark room, here he will have problems since there are not blinds to keep out the morning light. You better bring a sleep mask with you.
Bathroom was also big with all amentites and a big bathtub in the middle. Huge private pool made entirely of pebbles, with 2 deep levels (0,80cm +1,40cm) based in a beautiful garden. Amazing external frog statue shower with hot-gold water! A fruit basket and 2 sarong with red hibiscus flower printed all over (the hallmark of the resort) was the welcome gift. Unlike other travelers we never had bugs, insects or mosquitoes in our villa even if it was situated next by the river. We did saw a kind of flying rooster, lizards, frogs, squirrels and very small snakes around, but hey, you are in the middle of a tropical forest, it’s completely normal! Do not fool ourselves! Whatever the staff of the hotel does, they can’t do much enough to make them disappear, since for those creatures there, is their natural environment. We are invading their space, not the opposite!
Absolutely beautiful the holy water pool next to a waterfall, the main pool and the “river pool” with hydro massage. Trees, small lakes with water lily’s and goldfish, flowers, are everywhere and small temples give a real Balinese touch! Every corner of the resort has surprisingly lovely decorative details!
Staff was always friendly and helpful especially at the lobby. They offer us also a lovely personalized gift when we checked out.
The hotel has it’s own shuttle bus every hour for a ride in Ubud center, but you can easily rent a motorbike from Ubud for 5 euro per day and be truly independent.
Hotel restaurant we only visited once, but it was expensive and nothing special, you can find much better restaurants in Ubud and cheaper.
Breakfast was the only black spot of the resort. Since there is not buffet, the selection had to be larger or change menu every day! But unfortunately they had the very same menu every day with very small selection and mediocre quality. For example if someone did not wanted to eat the Asian breakfast the only “salted” food option was the eggs (no cheese no hams, nothing!). Bread selection was composed of a basket with 3 croissant and 2 slice of toast bread! Juice’s were not fresh. If someone stays more than 2 days in the hotel he can easily be bored of eating the same things every day.
Also something important that the management should pay attention regarding villas situated near by the river. Most “river” villas have in their front, just a meter from the pool small rice fields cultivated by locals. During our 4 day stay was the period that the villagers were cultivating this field just in front of our villa. It was quite embaracing that I was swimming in the pool with my bikini, just one meter away, at the same time, a villager, stuck in the mud, was doing a very hard job. Except the fact that me and my husband we didn’t feel comfortable, apparently there was no sense of privacy. I presume that for the villager that was not pleasant also! Maybe, they need to consider of planting some more plants between the pool and the field, in order to be more private for both sides.

My husband and I stopped 4 days in Bali (jungle) during our honeymoon, the first thing that came to my mind when arriving the Royal Pita Maha was: “OH-MY-GOD” obviously in a good way! The Hotel is located on a privileged piece of land! As you get down your vehicle, you enter the Hotel´s Lobby, which is an semi-outdoor lobby, every door and every wall are cautiously carved with stories and as you keep walking towards the upper restaurant, you really get the urge to cry since you cant believe so great natural beauty.

Imagine you are standing on a huge balcony, and before you is a canyon –like green area full of exotic vegetation, a waterfall, a rice field, a river, stone paths and cautiously hidden villas, each of them with their own pool and huge stone bathtubs. (We made a video f the experience of entering the hotel and walking towards the balcony through the inner gardens and carved walls, but decided to no upload it since we would ruin your experience of doing it live : ).

Some villas are more private than others, at first we where assigned a very private villa BUT our view was a little bit covered by the roof on an other Villa (which had undergone restoration and some aluminum patches where showing over the hay-like roofs), so we asked for a room change and the concierge assigned us a villa with perfect view but not so private (when I say “not so private” means that if some one tries to see your villa maybe they could, BUT its not as if someone can just see you with no barriers).

The rooms are spacious, and as I said before, they have amazing views, BUT there ARE some IMPORTANT CONCERNS:
1. All the front wall of the Villa is made of glass windows (floor to roof) which is very nice for the view, BUT these windows are not well sealed, so many bugs enter your room and some how you find some on your white bed comforter and inside your bath tub.
2. The bed is surrounded by a white curtain which is used as a big mosquito net (or bug net) , BUT some how maybe other guests have killed some bugs upon them because you can see some blood stains on the fabric, which is very disgusting (We asked for a replacement curtain which was better but not perfect).
3. An other important concern is that the beds are very uncomfortable, and the bed stands are very noisy.
4. The pools have no warming, so the water is cold, you have some trouble getting in, but later on your body adjusts to the pool´s temperature.
5. The concierge is NO good in recommending tours, he will urge you everytime to take the white water rafting (wich is 1 hour drive) even though you tell him you are not interested. Also he will say other tours are very far away (like the monkey forest) when its only a 15 min drive… We recommend you to look on the Internet for help on tours.
6. Service is good, but don´t expect a Four Seasons Standard.

In overall, the hotel is located on the most beautiful landscape I have ever seen, but they have to work on their room´s comfort… If they changed the beds, sealed the windows , have extra clean bed and train their staff they could be charging $800 dlls or more per night rather than $390.

Room Tip: Decide wherer you prefer privacy or a great view (I´d go for a great view, you´ll see its worth it).

We stayed for 2 nights at the royal pitamaha. It was really worth staying there. We stayed in a pool villa . They have like 50 units of these. Here are the following good and bad points:
1. The hotel has an amazing view on a water fall and river.
2. The architechture of the hotel is beautiful and fantastic. It has many ponds , and statues.
3. The villas are big with big private pool .
4. The night time is very relaxing as you can hear the jungle sound.
5. The service was excellent and hotel staff are very friendly.
6. There is an hourly shuttle service to Ubud centre.

bad points:-
1. there are insects around the hotel which is very common anyways in Ubud but you need to spray your legs with those insect sprays which is provided in your room.
2. the breakfast is good but not very good. Usual menu breakfast in ubud hotels as there are not buffet breakfasts.
3. coming back to lobby from the river which is located on the lower part of the hotel is tiring as you need to take the stairs back to top.

Room Tip: take villas in the #140 range

My Husband and I, ages 27 and 28, were on the second half of our honeymoon on our first visit to Bali. We had just spent a week in Seminyak and were ready for the slower pace of Ubud! From the U.S.A we were eager to stay in a place that didn't erase the essence of Bali which I found a lot of the new resorts tended to do. We could have stayed in a more posh upscale place, but we were there to experience and feel like we were in Bali-not a fancy artificial hotel that you can find anywhere in the world!

That being said RPM had everything we were looking for and more from its understated luxury, friendly efficient staff close to the center of Ubud. When we first arrived we were shown to the main dining area and blown away by the million dollar view. We were warmly greeted, given a delicious and refreshing welcome drink and cool towels as we took in our new surroundings. The main lobby was stunning, open air, Red fresh flowers tucked into statues, fish pounds, sparkling floors, the sound of flowing water, lush vegetation and intricate carvings everywhere. They checked us in early and one of the staff personally came over and sat with us, going over everything about the resort, the van transportation to Ubud and about making arrangements for reservations and activities ect. Then and there we quickly and efficiently filled the week with bike tours, mountain trekking and reservations at various restaurants. All I had to do was tell him what we wanted to do and he took care of everything else. He then personally walked us down to the villa-we were along the top of the villas so we had a great view. The villa was like a glass box-Every angle you had a glimpse of the view we couldn't get enough of. Two large sliding doors opened in the center of the villa, allowing the sounds of the birds, the running river and beauty of the place to enter into your room. (We had NO bugs!) There was a large bed in the center, a desk and chair on one side, a lounge, table and chair on the other, and a vanity in the main room. Down the stairs to the other side of a villa was a long couch, table and chairs, the mini bar, and Tv which we never turned on. The other side was the large bathroom, heart shaped tub, separate shower, double sink, and area for luggage. Each side led out to your private pool which was larger then expected. It had great AC as well! It was clean simplistic and charming with fresh flowers (changed daily) and the dusting of rose petals on the bed.

The main grounds of the resort were stunning and fun to explore. Yes there are stairs, but we had no problems, and climbed up and down without trouble. (There also is an elevator) I don't understand why people would even complain about them so much-did a little exercise ever kill anyone?? I guess just be aware they are there, so NO this would not be fitting for someone who just had knee surgery or has trouble getting about. Among the grounds are beautiful holy spring pools and a few small temples hidden about. Down at the bottom was our favorite spot at the Organic restaurant. We had a yummy lunch and a couple breakfast's down there-simply serene! The breakfast that is included with your stay is unbelievable by the way!! You have your choice which was nice, from American to Asian, to Organic to Balinese-we never had a bad one! Fresh squeezed juice, fruit, warm bread and a fantastic egg florentine or Benedict was the perfect way to begin our day! We also had a pleasant dinner at the balinese restaurant on the grounds and enjoyed the sounds of the 4 person band that played. We only ate at the resort one night as there are so many fantastic restaurants at a great price in Ubud!

The van came every hour and would drop you off in the center of town, so we never even bothered with a taxi, just would walk, shop, have dinner then walk back to the pick up point. We loved the Royal Pita Maha, loved the view, the lush and well manicured grounds, the staff and as a bonus we never had trouble with bugs. They even held our bags for the day after check out as our flight was until 1am, so we could enjoy Ubud. Overall, a great experience, it was exactly what we were looking for. We loved Ubud and RPM and can't wait to return!
