“First introduction to Balinese art”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

Visiting this Museum is between the 2-3 first things that any visitor should do in Ubud - if there is any cultural aim in his/her visit.

In the Neka museum you can see paintings, sculptures and photos of the traditional Balinese life and art. Most of the paintings are from XX century (not very old). It was during this century when Ubud became the cultural hub of the Balinese life, and many artists flourished there.

And after visiting the full musem, nothing better than crossing the street and go directly the Putri Bali Spa for getting a good foot massage!!

“Worthwhile visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

This is a great visit to get a feel for the local art scene. If you stay at any of the Komaneka hotels you can get a free pass. Even so, I would pay to go as it's really interesting.

“Interesting Varied Collection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

There was a wide variety of art at this museum. I especially loved some of the more contemporary wood carvings and the pictures by Arty Smit.

“Museum Neka, if you are interested in beautiful paintings.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

Museum Neka has beautiful paintings. I liked the paintings of Bonnet very much. Outside there is a nice view over the valley. A good place to spend some time.

“Cultural Oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

This collection of paintings, sculptures, carvings and photographs is fascinating and enjoyable. The items on show are outstanding and must be amongst the best on Bali. The exhibits are well laid out and labelling is quite informative as well. There were only a handful of other people there which made for a very relaxed two or three hours. The surroundings are beautiful - typically Balinese.
There is the usual souvenir shop - though we found this one worth a look. We were a bit disappointed with the cafe offering - though the view was great.
Highly recommended for anyone interested in Balinese art and culture.
